Default Liquid Diet?

I've been reading many posts as to many folks having to do 2-1 week liquid diets or 1-3 day liquid diets, and I've not read anything that says as to why? So, Why?

Thanks,

Kimberly~

*sighs* My bad, I put this in the wrong thread / forum area.. I sorries. Newbie trying to get the kinks out.

Most of the liquid diets are 1 week to 10 days prior to and after surgery. The prior to is to shrink the liver giving the surgeon better access to his work area, and the after is to not stress the pouch during the real important first 10 days or so of healing. Also, later on - if we do a stupid and stretch the pouch (eat too much_ we can restart the basics and kick start the weight loss again by a 1 week liquid.

Good Luck

I only had to do a 1 day liquid diet prior to my surgery. But I was asked to lose as much weight before surgery as I could (10-20lbs) to help shrink my liver.

It varies from surgeon to surgeon, no right answer either I don't think. Just each surgeons choice.

True statement. I know of a Surgeon in El Paso that does neither, and tells his peeps to eat the biggest, most luxurious meal ever the NIGHT BEFORE SURGERY. I am not sure I agree with that, but it works for him.
