Anyone Know OB/GYN doc that is good with Obese patients
Hi Everyone.. i haven't posted in ages. Once again I am considering having the bypass. However, at the moment i am having other issues. Does anyone know of a good Gyn. doctor here in southern calfornia that is good with obese patients specifically if they need surgery?? I figured this would be a good place to inquire. Please if anyone knows of any let me know! Thank you very much!

Sorry, I can't even remember the last time I had a pap smear... I know, I know... I should get one...especially since I had pre cancerous cells back in 1997...but I HATE Dr. appointments...and Dentist...and breast exams...and and and.... I am a procrastinator with health related issues.

If I lived closer I would kick your booty. You should be having them Yearly Girlfriend. I have an excellent Ob/GYN but you live to far away for me to refer you to them.

honey! Take the phone by the hand and start a calling, I'm not sure if your limited by insurance, but I would start to let my fingers wonder thru the yellow pages and see if you can find someone that will help you. Doctors are there to help and in your condition, I wouldn't delay, it could complicate things. Best of luck!

Hi Melody,
I don't know any, but have a few suggestions for how you might find some.
You might want to check with some of the bariatric or weight loss centers in your area, see if they might have some recommendations for OB-GYNs with experience with obesity.
You can also do a google search and see if you come up with anything.
But, to be honest, with the current obesity numbers what they are, you will likely be fine with any OB-GYN who has a lot of patients. I am not sure what your concerns are regarding having an OB-GYN who in particular works with obese patients, but most are going to have experience with obese patients, it's just a fact in today's society. If you have concerns about other co-morbidities you may have, then use those as well with your google search.
I do think word of mouth is probably going to be your best though. Check the bariatric centers and weight loss centers in your area, or you might want to look for some message boards/review sites for OB-GYNs in your area and search through responses to see if any mention weight or not.
Hope that helps! Go get checked out, bleeding like that is NOT NORMAL. Don't let trying to find the "perfect" OB-GYN jeopardize your health either. Go get something set up today!

Go to the OB/Gyn...ASAP!! Could be any number of issues...from serious to incidental!! Call now!
I would have incidences of bleeding for 63 days, then no period for 4 months...I was fighting hormonal imbalances...had PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), endometriosis, and fibroids...and an endometrial tumor, endometrial ablation, medications, injections...ran the gamut over 18 years until I decided upon having a total hysterectomy.
That said....GO AND PICK UP THAT PHONE NOW AND CALL!!!!!! Now's not the time to be picky...just do it!
Cathy

Thanks again Everyone! I have called around so far the soonest anyone can see me is April 1st. Is thaat insane or what? I am going to keep calling around. I guess my concern was that if I needed surgery i want someone who has operated on larger people. But like you all said, its not time to be picky.
Thanks Ladies!
