Duckie - that is terrific!
I can knit but crochet - forget it. I do something dumb everytime it comes to turning at the end of a row and I end up with a triangle rather than a rectangle/square.
You keep it up girl.
And Katie - I hate you!

Wow!
Michelle, your afghan is beautiful - it looks like you've been crocheting for years. Love it! Katie, what can I say? You are a woman of many talents. I'm eyeing that fish you crocheted and thinking how cool it would be to be able to make that - a big one would be a great throw pillow (I know, I know - how gay am I? Very! ) - someday, I'm gonna have you teach me!

Eric... I'm a leftie! I'll have to teach you using mirrors! LOL!
Duckie... what's your next project!??? It's addicting, isn't it! I had so many extra afghans, didn't know what to do with them all! I've got the stash down to zero now... time to get busy again!

Thank you all, you are TOO SWEET! The two colors are raspberry and rose. I had to switch to a new color when the free yarn I received turned out to be a DISCONTINUED color. lol
Deb, I learned using a combination of two books:
-I taught myself to crochet (Boye). It comes with different crochet hooks and accessories.
-I can't believe I'm crocheting (Leisure Arts)
Katie, HOLY MOLY! I'm just working on straight lines at this point. THAT IS AMAZING!!

I taught myself to crochet out of the World Book Encyclopedia back when I was about 13 yrs old... LONG time ago. It's one of those things I pick up and do from time to time... in spurts! I will be making a star/moon/sun blanket, repeating patterns in rows sort of like the animal blanket... I chart out the colors on my computer and go from there. I haven't found a book of patterns like mine - yet! Maybe there is one waiting to be written... LOL!
Duckie - love the color combo - I can see it in your photos - very subtle, yet remarkable! Good job -- can't believe that was your FIRST project!!!

Said in my best Napoleon Dynamite voice
"Gosh, you guys have mad skilz, num-chuck skilz, crocheting skilz, knitting skilz"
I always thought that crocheting was funny - only in the fact that it is the only hobby that I know of with the word crotch in it. I just think that is humorous, but I am me, and that is why you guys love me!

Duckie-my grandma made me a blanket as a wedding shower gift 13 yrs ago , before she died .It is my most treasured possession.I always say if the house was on fire I'd throw the kids in the blanket and then run out .
Enjoy your new hobby !
