Default PLANNING THE CRUISE - December, 2008

3/25/08 THE RESULS ARE IN!!

THE WINNER IS #348 - with Miami departure, and stops in Cozumel and Cayman.

I will get more info about the ship asap, but for now, click on the link, then click on the link to the ship itself, and you will be able to see the deck plans and read information about the ship itself.

Glen had hernia repair surgery today, so this is coming to you much later than I thought it would, so please forgive me. It's been a LONNG day, but he is doing well!!!

Our theme/slogan for this trip, thanks to Omaha Jim, is DARE TO LIVE!!! It is my personal slogan (thank you, Jim, mmmmwwwaaaaahhh), and it is truly the focus of this trip. We are all daring to live, and for five days we will DARE to LIVE TOGETHER!!!!!!

HERE IS THE GREAT NEWS! We can reserve rooms WITHOUT deposits until 30 days before the cruise - you can HOLD THE SPOT now until you determine if this is good for you, so if you have any interest at all, book it! We need EIGHT cabins, at least, to be considered a group, with group perks (many of which have yet to be determined, depending on the cruise).

YES, we can have a party on the cruise ship, just for us, in a designated room. If we want an open bar and food, it will cost about $12 a person, if we want just a room with a mike and make our own fun (no food) there is NO extra charge.

WE MUST OCCUPY 8 CABINS TO BE A GROUP. So I need at least 12 cabins, firm commitments in order to go forward, to allow for last minute life situations that can come up. Corrine and I are one. (See updated list below, in RED)

I, personally, would like us to all have the same sun visors/ball caps (your choice), embroidered the same way on the same color. That way we can pick each other out on a large cruise ship, and it will be a wonderful souvenir. We can do t-shirts, too (I know I will want one), but keep in mind that a t-shirt won't do, on the trip, what a sun visor/ball cap will. I saw groups with the same hats on, and it was a cool thing seeing them seek out each other.

Bring it on, folks!!!

Updated AIR FARE info - there is no bargain to get your airfare through the cruise line. Best for each person who is flying to watch for the deals (I use bookingbuddy.com), and grab them when we can. This will also allow us to pay for things at different times, making it easier on the budget.

ADULTS TRAVELING WITH FAMILIES....The third and fourth passenger in cabin (regardless of age--infant or 95years old) will travel at a discounted fare which is approximately 25% off of the first two passenger fares which are the ones you see on the site.

[B]Check out our cruise!!!/B]

http://www.vacationstogo.com/fastdeal.cfm?deal=28348

Clothes: Resort casual, one evening that requires men with ties and women dressed up. The rest is casual although jeans are discouraged in the dining room (we ate on deck for most meals anyway). Each ship has its own rules - more on that soon.

[B]3/25/08 The following is a list of those who have indicated an interest in this cruise. Anybody who jumps in now is more than welcome. The only part we are closing is the decision as to which cruise we should take. That decision has been made now.B]

Claire and Corrine - Cabin 1
David and Judy Rappaport - Cabin 2
Paul and Bernardo - Cabin 3
Gwen and The Dane - Cabin 4
Duckie and Nyn - Cabin 5
Omaha Jim and SWMBO (Sandy) - Cabin 6
Janine and Gary - Cabin 7
Kelly (KellyMass), husband and baby - Cabin 8
Shereeks & Hubby - Cabin 9
Coptergirl (Whitney) and Keith - Cabin 10
LadyTonya and Tim - Cabin 11
UKDeveloper (Carl), GF & 2 children - Cabin 12
sdgirl (Donna) and Michele - Cabin 13 (LUCKY NUMBER!)
RobinW and ? - Cabin 14
mssg13marinewife and husband - Cabin 15
Blkmercedes & ? - Cabin 16
Vim&Vigour & MiladyB (Beth) - Cabin 17 (maybe, hopefully)
DesMcCoy & Husband - Cabin 18
Persephone & ? - Cabin 19 (maybe, hopefully)

Mary Ann & DH - Cabin 20

ALL ABOARD!!!

Claire this sounds like so much fun. I have always wanted to do a cruise but this year is out for me. I would be interested in a t-shirt or cap. If you take orders for them let me know.

Kim, I'm sorry you won't be with us this year, but I will be happy to order a sunvisor for you. Please remind me, though, since I won't be ordering them until September. There may be others, too, that would like one.

Claire, I would love to go. Put me down as "tentative". I am a single at the moment. It all depends on wether I can get the time off.
My question: on what days does this usually happen. (i.e.: leaves on saturday, returns on wednesday, etc.) Thanks.

And I have a question as well, will this trip require a passport? With the current delay in getting one, I will need to get my wife and I started on one ASAP if we do.

Great question. For a lot of reasons, I strongly recommend a passport, even if it isn't required.

I will, however, find out if one is required.
