Default Offline for awhile....

I will be away from the forum for awhile to take care of some personal matters that have suddenly come up.

I got a message last night saying my former mother-in-law was in the hospital in ICU and not expected to make it. She's 79, and has been on dialysis for several years now. Her system simply can't take it anymore and they are shutting down.

I met Ellie in 1968 when I went "steady" with her son Bob. Ellie took me under her wing and has always been Mom even though my marriage to Bob ended in divorce. Her statement then was, "Don't you dare ever divorce me!"

It was difficult seeing her in the hospital...very frail and old. She's having difficulties breathing and I suspect she won't make it much longer.

I stood at her bedside and talked to her about the good times we've shared and how much I loved her. I know she heard me as she turned her head several times.

I just hope and pray God takes her swiftly now into His arms so she will no longer suffer.

>>>>>>>>>>and the other is my granddaughter Krystal's Dad (not my son) and step-mom who live in Utah are separating. (will probably end in divorce) Dad will stay in Lehi, Utah and stepmom will move to St George, Utah, this coming Sunday, with the 3-year old son who is not my grandson.
Krystal's Dad asked my husband and I if Krystal could move in with us and finish the school year here as well as spend the summer here, and possibly longer. His job is at night and basically there is no one there to watch her while he works.

My DH and I are driving up on the 21st to pick her up along with most of her belongings to move in with us. I will enroll her in the elementary school here and hope I can work out schedules for school and work schedules. It will be an emotional time for Krystal and thank goodness I have the 24th to 28th off for spring break.

I feel sooo sorry for Krystal. She's been through so much in her 10 years. My daughter and her Dad divorced and since then she's been relocated several times to different places and schools. In my heart I know her being here is the best solution and I have no problem if it turns out being permanent.

Take care everyone....

Teri

Hey Teri... BIG GIANT hugs to you hon... This is a lot for you --- life changing!

I feel the pain of watching someone you love passing away . . . it's very fresh in my heart.

I also know the love and caring concern of a grandmother... and can't quite imagine what it would be like to have an active 10 year old living with us again - but I know you'll adapt and love having her around! This is the BEST PLACE for her right now - what a blessing you are to be able to open your home to her!

Take care in all the things coming at you! You'll be in my prayers.

Oh Teri - I am so sorry for the pains and growing pains you're going through right now. We are here for you, love for whatever you may need. I am glad you didn't lose the relationship with your MIL - what a blessing that you have such a love between you. And Krystal is one lucky kid to be able to ride out the storm in her life under your protective and loving wings.

Godspeed to you, dear one!

Teri,
Your ex-MIL and your grandaughter are so lucky to have you. I know taking care of others often goes with the territory...but don't forget to take care of yourself.

I'll be thinking of you!!

Oh Teri, I hope Ellie finds peace, as well as you and the rest of the family. And from what I've read here on the forum, your granddaughter is a lucky girl to have such a nice grandma. Good luck!

Default At Peace.

Dearest Teri, your wishes for peace have arrived for your dear Mom, and what a wonderful person she must have been for you to have considered her Mom and for you to have never turned away, even after divorce.
It is wonderful that loved ones shared her passing and now can share the grieving and the celebration of her life.
All the best in the coming weeks, sounds as though you will have some busy times and I must say that I can feel the huge heart beating inside you to do this and have this moment happening in your life.
I was moved to read your thread and can only say my thoughts go out to you and your loved ones at this time for both your loss and the kindness and positiveness you will be bringing to your 10 year old.
