Default Cooking class

San Diego peoples - does anyone have any interest in coming to a cooking class? I found one of my father's friends who specializes in healthy cooking classes, and I was thinking of asking her if she would do one for fun one weekend.

I have access to a pretty big kitchen in Mission Valley, and I thought that would be a fun weekend activity if people were interested.

I could maybe film part of it and post on the site for others to see around the country/world.

The goal would be to have it for free, or at least a tiny fee to cover the rental of the space, but I want to see if people are interested and then I'd see if it would cost anything.

I would go. Its also a good time to talk with one another and meet other people from around here( the newbies). It would probally turn out like a small support group meeting.

John, you are fantastic when it comes to support and good ideas. I only wished I lived close enough so I could be there too. I just had to tell you that you are an awesome 22 year old my dear! You have something special that alot of 22 year olds don't have now days.....compassion for others. Thanks for doing what you do.

Sorry to all of you that were looking forward to this. I couldn't get the right contact info to get things started up, and then I just kind of forgot.

I am getting back on top of planning this event, and wanted to run the $$ side by you all. Keep in mind that this does not translate into cash for TT, but is just to cover the cost of putting this on:

If we could get 20-30 people to come, and charge $20-$40/person, we could possibly get the following:
  • Club house rental (huge kitchen, sitting areas, great ambiance)- $100
  • WLS Food Specialist - Donna Wolf (home)
    • Her group fees on the web site are listed at $60/person, so this would be much less
  • Includes cost of food
  • Includes recipes and other goodies

Essentially, she teaches you to cook good healthy foods, and you also get to try them all at the same time.

I couldn't guarantee that we would be able to get the rates noted above, but I could talk to her about getting it lower if we have plenty of people. My dad said that she's really a great resource and instructor, and I think there is a lot that people could get out of something like this.

(I'm doing my best to keep expenses low, because I know that pocket books are really strained as it is from the slowed economy...)

Best,
John
