Default Feeling Pretty Good

I am now ten days post op and I am feeling really good. I am up and doing laundry slowly but I am doing it. I feel really great to be able to do things again. I still feel a little winded but thats because I havent been doing much other than sipping and walking lately. I took a shower and even blow dried my hair today. Woohoo. Oh the little things we take for granted. I have a confession, I ate a bite of beef and piece of brocoli today. I am not past the liquid stage but I felt so hungry. That was a couple of hours ago and I feel pretty good. I have to say I have not yet vomitted post-op thankfully!! It was amazing how long I took to devour that tiny piece of beef, it was sooooo good. I didnt have the desire to sit down and eat the rest of the container, I was quite satisfied with the tiny portion I ate. I am not craving any sugar or sweets I just want some real food. Protein shakes just dont cut it. I know there is a method to this madness, thank God my post op is in 4 days then its on to soft foods. I think that stage will be much easier since I will be able to have a few more choices. Chicken broth is chicken broth and I am thankful for the option to have this in addition to my lovely protein shakes I need/want something more.

Glad to hear you're doing so well Adri.

A little word of advice though - try and stick with your diet schedule. I know it's tough but you don't want to upset things at this stage.

Not much longer and you can get on to the tastier stuff.

Adri - I am so glad things are going well for you. Careful with introducing things before its time...you have a baby's tummy now and things need to be introduced slowly. Glad you didn't react especially to the broccoli

You were lucky it stayed down. when you get hungry like that drink more water. Sometimes what you think is hunger is just not having enough water. I was not able to eat solid foods for along time just now able to eat red meat w/o vomiting. Vetgetables are hard on me as well. I guess we are all different.

Adri, good for you to get yourself moving and taking care of business. I was such a baby for 3 or 4 weeks, it is kinda ridiculous, so I applaud someone like you who is up and taking care of business. Do take good care you and your new gift, it will all move along quickly and before you know it you will have had 4, 5, 6 months fly by and will be happy with your changes and that you are then starting to enjoy some of the more normal healthy foods to eat. Hang in there Adri and I always love to see Whitney write "babies tummy" as it was one of the first replies I had when I first came to this great site. pebitpeb

Hey-

I had my surgery the same day as you --- I'm feeling great and will return to work part time on Wednesday... I've been driving, snow blowing, laundry'ing, etc since day 5! That's how good I feel...

I know - I'm lucky! I'm VERY lucky!!!

I haven't been hungry, but did start craving SALT and CRUNCH yesterday. I see my dietician on Tuesday - so I'll be hitting the grocery store then.

Of any complaint, I'd say I'm TIRED... naps are my best friend these days!!!

Be careful with the food thing - your pouch and "attachments" are still healling and you don't want to cause any ouchies to happen in there... that could only mean future problems! My surgeon says no red meat for SIX MONTHS... Dig out your diet guidelines and try to stick to them...

katie
