Default Drug Test

Does anyone know if they test for pot or anything else before they do surgery?

Mine didn't test for any drugs...though it wouldn't have been an issue for me. Would it be an issue for you? My concern would be that I know they prefer you not to smoke because of anesthesia...lung issues.

Not judging, just asking.

Mine does. They do it before you start the 6 months, and then again RIGHT before surgery. They also do a urine culture the morning of surgery to make sure there isn't any nicotine in your system, and make sure there is no chance of a last-minute pregnancy. I think that's the way I understood it anyways.

hehe! Potheads are so cute.

I think she's right. They made me pee the day of surgery. I think they wanted to make sure nothing would interfere with anastesia.

Mine tested for everything and I " fixeed" so there is very little chance of pregnancy. But drugs weren't an issue for me either.

Having worked in an addiction clinic for 7 years I beg to differ.

I would urge anyone who smokes cannabis to please stop. I had a best friend who smoked it for ten years. Happy, lively, laid back handsome man, not a care in the world.

Woke up one morning and hung himself leaving his wife and baby devastated.

Sorry to be morbid.

Love

I think he may have had more problems than weed. He may have used weed to cover up how he was feeling.

Maybe so. But having worked in the Addictions Unit for years I see every day what it can do to people. Its a huge problem here in the UK, stronger strains of the cannabis plant are really exacerbating any problems you may have hidden.

My advice would be to quit. Having WLS is hard enough without having to tackle the munchies along with the head hunger.

Hope I am not coming over as "holier than thou". I smoked it an awful lot when I was younger and also took an awful lot of recreational drugs. These exacerbated underlying problems I have and I now have Bi-Polar.
