Default smoking

How many of you quit smoking for surgery?

How many started back up?

How many quit for good?

I quit about 3 months ago but lately I have been really wanting to smoke again.

ok you named my addiction.

Nat Sherman natural mints. It's a very expensive addiction. My last smoke was 12-11-07. I had surgery on 12-14-07 aaannnnd I cannot remember the exact day I started again but it was a few days before Christmas. I just couldn't take it and it helped me out with the head hunger BIG TIME.

Am I ashamed?? Yes! I did this surgery to be a healthier me.

Can I give them up right now? No

Having said that, I don't inhale (I DON'T) It's the essence of the smoke itself. It's something to do with my hands. It's the smokers patio at my work (what else would I do on my breaks?) I love to smoke and read, smoke and journal.....

I was honest with my dr at my follow up appointment and heres the news that you may want to consider: SMOKING CAN CAUSE ULCERS IN YOUR POUCH.

so if you quit and can do without em....do without em

I have never smoked and with all my troubles won't go there. I can't stand the smell of people who smoke and it lingers on their clothes. I ex husband smoked and so did his whole family and I was constantly surrounded by it. I told them they were slowly killing me. I couldn't stand it.

I try to keep my teens far away from it. I pray and hope they see what happened to some of their family members.

Its funny that you say that.Sense quitting I do notice how gross ppl smell when they have just had a cig.My dh has not been able to quit and sometimes his breath just grosses me out.I am trying to get him to take chantix but he says that it gives him insomnia. It made me sick to my stomach but I knew I had to do it for my surgery.

Ps

I confess that I smoke cigars. I stopped for almost 3 months pre-op and waited two months post-op to start up again, all okay with my surgeon. I don't inhale, and I find them relaxing, which helps to cut my work stress.

I was exactly the opposite. Right after surgery when I was walking the block I would follow smokers to get a whiff. I'm HARD CORE that way.

Although the first cig tasted disgusting for exactly the first three puffs and then it was all good from there. I shoulda stopped on the second puff.

I love the way cigars smell as well. I have to buy my smokes from a cigar shop and everytime I walk in I pause and inhale deeply. I sometimes hang out in thier smokers lounge just for the smell alone.

wow. sorry about your daughter.

I definitly don't smoke in the house around Ash. There is most certainly a polarizing affect between smokers and non smokers. Which is why I hang out on the smokers patio whether I light up or not.
