Would you do it again?
SO of course i am sitting here bored at work and researching bypass surgery.I am finding alot of bad stuff especially with complications.I want to hear especially from people with complications if they would do it again.I also want to know what kind of complications you had and what had to be done to correct the problem.I also want to hear from those of you with no complications to make me feel better.I guess as my date is getting closer i am going back and fourth more and more.i dont know maybe im just crazy.

Kellymass,
My complications were minor but I just wrote about them in the personals. The Good the bad and the Ugly feel free to read it. But yes I would do it again. Because the bad outways the worse in my situation.

Apart from having a reaction to Ibuprofen (anti-inflams) because I forgot NOT to take them, my journey has been complication free. I've had a pretty easy journey compared to many of my WLS friends who have sometimes struggled with long plateaus, weight loss has completely stopped short of target, and had many of the niggly and even major complications. I feel very blessed by this.
I was a diabetic before who was forever having episodes of losing my sight and I kept having recurring dreams are having limbs amputated as I couldn't control it!! Even so - would I do it again? HELL YEAH I WOULD even knowing more about what can go wrong than before.

I would do it again in a heartbeat. My only problem has been with dehydration and low blood sugar.

Kelly,
I'm 2 1/2 years out, haven't had any complications and YES!!! I would do it again. It is not for everyone, but I firmly believe that I would not be alive today it I hadn't had it done. Between my stressful job, high blood pressure, diabetes, high colesterol, etc, and my weight, it would have killed me. As of a month ago, all my blood work came back normal, for the first time in years. I have put back on 15 lbs because I quit doing the things I need to do (exercise) and I don't have a problem eating stuff I shouldn't. It's just a tool and if you work with the tools given to you it will be successful.
So I'm getting back on track with eating right and exercising. Having a support group is also a MAJOR help. I had my surgery in San Diego, but live 5 hours north of there and I don't have support group up here. My TT and San Diego friends are the world's greatest. I try to get down south to meet with them when I can. You really need that help and support of people that understand what you are going through. Good luck.

I'm like a lot of others, nothing major although I did have a bit of fluid build up after my tube was removed which got me a fun trip to the ER, but other then that I've had no complications.
I would SO do this again! I tell EVERYONE about it and honestly, thinking back as to how I was before surgery... I kick myself for not doing it sooner. Life is so much better when you're thinner. Honestly barring any MAJOR complications (which while are possible I really think are the exception rather then the rule) most people would do it again in a heartbeat!

In a heartbeat...and again and again....
Best thing I could have done. I did have a stricture, a very minor complication at 6 weeks, but everthing else in great. I will be 2 years out in a few weeks.

I had a leak and got to do the surgery twice, was on oxgen for over a month, had two Jp tubes for almost three weeks, and yes I would do it again. I'm alive and feeling pretty good most of the time I wouldn't be here at all if not for the weight loss. The way people look at you is so nice now, the way I feel about myself is great.

I'd do it again in a heartbeat!!!
I had site infection and had to be cut open again and drained. My iron was low but that has resolved and I'm 183 lbs down and feeling good!!! Looking better too!!! It's a big decision that only you can make! Good luck!
