At Goal & now large intestine, rectum removal
Well as many of you know I have been working hard to get to my goal weight so that I can have my next surgery. On 1/24/08 I will go under again to have the precancerous large intestine, rectum and anus removed.
I am hoping to be out of the hospital in about 6 to 14 days and then home with my loving wife.
I am having pouch pain every meal. I don't seem to have this pain when I have my snack of string cheese or jerky. Do you think I am trying to eat to much food. I also am still fighting with dehydration. I am up to 84 oz.s per day and taking salt tablets twice a day. I am wondering if many of you are taking Imodium on a daily basis?
Sorry for the ramble I guess I an getting a little nervous

o Dave i wish you all the best with recovery and healing. I must say i've never heard that an anus can be removed. Why are they treating so invasivly? Does this mean you'll have a colostomy bag? God bless

Dave, first I want to say sorry you have to go through all this. Tell your wife that I will be praying for you both daily. As hard as it on you to go through something this horrible it is as hard on her to watch you go through it. I know about daily struggles I suffer from them as well. i have hard time getting in all my fluids as well. I always carry a thirty ounce bottle around with me full water. What I find is I can't get my water intake in and get the food too. So, I suffer on one end. Hang in there. Its a learning experiancec for us all. Oh yeah Congradulatuions on reaching your goal weight. In the mist of all this craziness there is something to be proud off. Take it easy and I'll be praying.

Wow Dave! I had no idea! I am sorry that you are going through this. People as nice as you should never have to deal with these kinds of things. Unfortunately that's not the way it works.
My mom had colon cancer and had to have a large section removed. Everything went well and she came back from it better than ever. I know you will have a very positive outcome!!
Just wanted to wish you well and tell you that you are in our thoughts and prayers!!
