Hi guys,
I have approached several of you about filling out an online survey that is related to gastric bypass maintenance (and is also my doctoral dissertation in Health Psychology). I have decided to add an incentive so I can get these results a bit more quickly. If you are female, have had gastric bypass surgery, and are more than 18 months out, please take the time to read the invitation below. If you have already filled out the survey, I do not want you to be left out from the gift card drawing. If you go back to the survey link and just read the first page, there is a place to sign and a new place to add an email address in case your name is drawn. You do not need to fill out the rest of the survey at that point.
Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to fill the survey out. If you qualify and have not checked it out yet, it will maybe take ten minutes of your time. Please read the original invitation below for survey links. Peace and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Original letter:
My name is Kelly Connors Johnson, M.S., T.L.L.P. I am a master’s level psychologist in the Belleville, Michigan area whose specialty is bariatric counseling and pre-surgery psychological evaluations. I am currently finishing up my doctorate in Health Psychology. For my dissertation, I am doing a survey on gastric bypass patients. (If you want to see my website, please feel free to visit
www.cornerstonebariatric.com ...)
I am interested in gastric bypass patients because I had weight loss surgery myself three years ago. The purpose of the survey I am doing currently is to gather new knowledge about what helps some people to be good weight maintainers after surgery...and what trips some people up. I would like to get a fair representation of post-bariatric patients in order that survey results are most accurate. Like you, I am a member of Thinner Times, although I admit to being a lurker for a long time before I joined.
I would be appreciative if you would take a few moments to connect to the link below and consider participating in this online survey. It does not matter if you are currently involved in online forums, or even if your weight loss is going the way you had hoped. I do want to assure you that the survey is completely confidential and will not require personal information such as your home address or social security number or anything odd. Please refer your post gastric bypass friends as well....at least 125 responses from women are needed...and remember to think of friends and acquaintances who do not participate in online forums and who may not be doing as well as they would like in their maintenance. After the survey is completed and analyzed, I will be publishing results at the survey website.
Thank you for taking the time to read this invitation and to hopefully participate. I cannot tell you how much it means to me to be able to gather this information for the bariatric world...and...in a more immediate way...be able to move on with my schooling. Please email me if you have any questions. Here are three link options.....
