Default Dining Out

Before my surgery I never cooked for myself. Now I am cooking 3 meals a day
and I am getting real tired of my cooking(i suck). But I am to nervous to go out to eat and have not given it a try yet.
So hopefully you guys can give me some info on some restaurants or meals
you have tried that will help me.
I know everyone is different but just some ideas would be great.
I used to love Boston Market but it just seems too buttery now
does anyone go there?
thanks for your help!

We eat at Boston Market occasionally.

I have a bite or two of Mashed Potatoes, a couple bites of Macaroni, and about 1/2 piece of meatloaf. That's really all I've tried there--but it was GOOD!!

We've eaten out a few times and these are the things that I have:

Soup
Chili
grilled or broiled fish, shrimp, scallops
crab legs
grilled or broiled chicken
bites of salad
mashed potatoes
well cooked veggies (very few...I go for the protein first!)

I'm really wary of sauces and ingredients that might make me dump. I do not want to experience that "OUT" somewhere.

I'm trying a feta burger tonight, sans the bun. I probably won't be able to eat more than 1/3 of it, but that's okay, I'll have lunch for the next two days!

HOpe this helps,

Mike

I am a lot further out from surgery then you, but I shared chicken fajitas last night with my son at one of our favorite Mexican places. I ate the chicken the veggies and some beans and shared the meal with my son and still had enough for lunch today.

I am facing this challenge tomorrow--a Christmas work lunch at the typical Texas eatery....mostly everything is fried and huge. This place has a steak on the menu "Big-assed steak." LOL
Anyway...their menu is online & they do have a cup of chili & also they have chicken tortilla soup. I will order one or the other of those.
Check out menus online. What a great thing that is!!

First eating out post-op was The Red Lobster. 3 or 4 spoons of lobster bisque, and 1 - countem 1 shrimp. I was full. The next day I made a 1 egg shrimp and cheese omelet with lobster bisque for a sauce and it fed me for two meals. Red Lobster Double Duty

I have had already few business lunches and dinners.
I always tried to order fish, avoid sauces, and get vegetables. I left always anything close to carbs such as rice, pasta, potatoes.
I tried to apply the rule of proteins first , then vegis, and if space carbs. It was not too bad. THe only danger, because we were sitting in the restaurants for hours, we have to stop eating after feeling full, and not continue later.

Last week-end I tried the japanise raw fish (the sushi without rice what is the name?), it went fine ( I had 2.5 slices and a little sushi).
Sunday we had a coktail party, a big buffet had a lot of salmon: I ate it with no sauce, it was delicious, and went fine.
Yesterday I had a business lunch with my team in a Thai restaurant. Again same rules, I ate first the fish, then vegis. It went all fine.

Overall it goes fine, we just have to watch out with the wine, we can react in a very different way ( I feel drunk only after 1-2 sips already :-(((()

What does not go fine are: steaks, and even chicken. Or if the restaurant is really noisy, and we are stressed to eat fine, I often have pain in stomac, and the food stays blocked.

So find your rythm, your food that your pouch support, (avoid fat) and enjoy every little fork: slowly, with gourmet discovery of each of the meal components. A real pleasure (if it is good)
