San Diego - Where's the Fire?
Wow! I'm in Rancho Penasquitos - all I've heard about is a fire in southern east county somewhere, but the sun is totally obliterated, the sky is all smoky and orange, and sitting in my house with all the windows closed I still smell smoke. They say the Santa Anas are here until at least Tuesday.....

One time in Texas we had smoke travel to us from mexico... It was awful and I feel your pain. Everything hazy... smokie smelling.... But it's probably not the same kind of smell.. I hope it all clears up before too long.

I'm not sure "exactly" where the fire is in SD, but according to a news report the fire is responsible for the death and eight injuries and burned about 2,500 acres near a highway. A second charred about 3,000 acres in northern San Diego County and was threatening homes near Witch Creek.
On my end, there's fires in Malibu....burning homes and a castle. Bad day for fires here. The winds in Long Beach have finally calmed down but the smokey air makes trouble for sinus headaches. ugh!
Hope this ends soon...Santa Ana winds....go away! Summer is over with! Let's have some COLD weather!

From what i can determine it's in Potrero/Witch Creek area. Heard that on the radio and pulled this from the KFMB (Channel 8) web site:
Fire crews are battling wildfires in the Potrero and Witch Creek areas. The San Diego County Department of Emergency Services has declared a local emergency and advises residents to call 2-1-1 (or 858/300-1211 if calling from a cell phone) for all non-emergency calls related to the fires. The county will also be posting updates on its Web site, www.sdcountyemergency.com.
Welcome to October!!

yup, at the time I typed the first message, I hadn't heard about the Julian/Witch Creek one. I just pray that no one else gets hurt in any of them here and in LA and that there won't be too many structures lost.
