Hey, I know it's two days late, but just wanted to reassure you that La Mesa is still fine.

I thought this was funny!

Went back to work in San Marcos yesterday. Had a conference call with corporate to discuss how sorry they were for the community...blah...blah..blah...oh and by the way why did you close for business...and why didn't you open sooner and....BTW we won't be paying you for missed time off, but you can use accrued vacation or sick time...and for people on commission, your quotas will not be adjusted and oh yeah...if you have any resperatory problems it may not be covered under our insurance...la dee dah....what a nice company......

welcome back to the real world of corporate America.....(they are based on the east coast)...jeezzz!!!!!

Rain,
That really stinks. Corporate america is so cold blooded.

I want to say how proud I am of our community and how proud I am to be a San Diegan.
This should be a model of how a community pulls together and supports it's own. The outpouring of love, much needed items and food has been phenomenal. They actually have had to start turning away donations because of the sheer number of contributions.
This town rocks.

Rain, sorry they're being so stupid about it! I work in a law office and our corporate clients have been calling left and right to figure this all out. Technically, by law, they don't have to pay you if they close down - sucks, don't it!? As for myself, I was out Monday and Tuesday, Monday my choice, will take it without pay or vacation - Tuesday the firm closed, and they decided to pay us. I am not completely happy here anyway and had decided if they didn't pay us for Tuesday it was time for me to look for another job......

As for respiratory problems - LOL, I was in the doc's office today. I'm so dang sensitive to crap like this because of my allergies - it has turned into a raging sinus infection

I just heard that the Student Red Cross group here at the high school I work at on the central coast raised over $2,300.00 at lunch today to help fire victums. I'm so proud of the kids here. Even being 5 hours away from the distruction, our kids wanted to help. This group was just started on campus about 3 weeks ago.

This is the email we received on how to report our time for the days we took off for the fires... I totally thought they would make us use vacation or sick time. Hmm...maybe my company isn't as bad as I thought.

"The Senior Management team wishes to express their concern and empathy for all the hardship that employees have had to endure during the last several days due to the wildfires in San Diego County. We also wish to commend the efforts of our employees who continued to work from home when they were able. Such efforts have been recognized by our customers in addition to the management team.

In recognition of the situation, Anacomp has decided that employees who were unable to come to work due to the wildfires will receive regular pay for any days missed through Wednesday, October 24, 2007. Time absent from work as a result of the fire emergency should be recorded on the timesheet as regular time."

Cindy, that's awesome what your kids did. As someone who was evacuated and knows some whose homes burned down, please tell them thank you from the bottoms of our hearts.

OT...are you going to make Rain's 3rd annual Holiday Party????
