Default Friends - today, take nothing for granted

My husband and son were in a serious auto accident yesterday. My son walked away without a scratch, husband is bruised and cut up, but fine. Travelling 60 mph down a two lane highway, a woman coming the other direction seems to have fallen asleep and came flying into their lane. My husband has some of the best reflexes I've ever seen and with the 1/2 second he had to react, lurched the wheel to the right and got the car halfway onto the shoulder before she hit them. It was that close to a head-on collision. I'm including a photo of the car (totalled obviously) but you can see that it was just so close to being a fatal accident. Just a fraction of a second, a few inches - I can't believe how lucky they were. I told my husband that his reflexes saved 4 lives yesterday. My grandmother said an angel turned his hand - I don't care what it was - I am just so thankful that I still have them in my life.

Less than a mile away on the same road is a white cross marking the spot where a young man of our community fell asleep while driving. He and the driver of the oncoming car were both killed. I could have been putting up crosses today, but I'm hugging my son and arranging rental cars with my husband. Who knew how much joy these little things could bring.

So go kiss your family for me and enjoy your day. Don't drive if you're tired and God Bless.

Oh Dear God - you were watching over those two yesterday.

What a terrible, terrible accident. Blessings to your husband for being alert. Hugs.

Holy crap! That car is a mess! I'm so happy to hear that your family is okay. They were very lucky. Were they both wearing seatbelts? They save so many lives. Hugs to your family. {{{{{{{Gina and family}}}}}}}

Yes they were wearing seat belts, but we are afraid the people in the other car may not have been. They are not doing as well and certainly did not walk away from the accident, though they are both alive too. It is terrible. I hope they'll be alright.

Oh no! I cannot stress enough that PEOPLE NEED TO WEAR THEIR SEATBELTS! (everyone listening?) I have seen such horrible injuries and deaths due to people not wearing them.
Again, I'm glad your family is "okay".

Goal! I did it!
103 pounds gone since my RNY
117 total pounds gone forever!
I finally have a "normal" BMI
Reached my first goal of 145...and setting a new one of 135.
Reached 135 and have decided to lose another five if I can.

I'm in the 130's for the first time since puberty!
