Ride for Cancer Care - shameless solicitation
Hey folks,
Forgive this shameless solicitation, BUT - as you have all read by now, I am doing a 50 mile bike ride on Sunday, Sept 23 to support our local Cancer Care center in Kingston NY. It is a wonderful place and just attends to so many things that families need when someone is fighting cancer. It is amazing.
I am trying to raise $500.00 - that is like $10.00 a mile - for the Center. I am shamelessly asking if any of you are interested, to just send what you feel like sending, a buck, 5 - whatever to:
Gina Galassi - Orchestra Director
Kingston High School
403 Broadway
Kingston, NY 12401
If you were drinking while reading this, have lost your mind or are just feeling crazy generous and would like to write a check, just make it out to me and I'll pool all the money before the day of the ride.
Obviously there is no pressure as I don't know who will be reading this, and please don't feel any obligation AT ALL. You also don't need to appologize if it isn't possible, but as I can't just write a check for $500.00 - I'm looking for some help.
Thanks folks and I hope it is alright that I've put this up here!

Off hand do you know where the donations end up.
Does it ALL go to research, the families, medicine, administration...ect?
I once made a donation and found out that like 90% of it went to admin costs. I guess that just kinda pissed me off . I just don't want that to happen again. A little is OK, everyone has to make a living, but not the majority of donations.

This is a local organization - so everything goes right to the patients and their families. Many of the people involved are volunteers. There may be some administrative costs, but compared to a national organization or one doing a phone drive or something - the administration portion should be really small. I can try to find their IRS thingy, but it will have to wait untill the weekend.

I'll pool eveything and give them one check. If that worries you, it is the Gruner Cancer Care Center.
Thanks!
