I can't add anything that no one else has said. But Gina...LOL. I'm glad you stopped & called your husband to come get you.

I didn't even feel 15 miles. I mean, nothing, no leg pain, no ab pain (which is where I had the surgery) and I'm on my hybrid still. So I'm pretty upright - not too tough.

This ride Sunday is not a race, it is a ride. I am sure that the hills will spank me pretty bad, but I have 21 gears to get me through. I don't anticipate anything steep enough to overload my bike or my legs.

And I desparately need to see what I can do. I have never ridden long enough to feel exhausted. I hope 25 miles with hills does it. And I'm eating already to get ready for it. Will be very hydrated going into the ride - and there are crew to help you if you get into trouble. So don't worry about that. I'm in great shape, 25 miles riding is like 8 miles walking/jogging - it is no marathon!

AND - I'm getting a private lesson on a road bike on Thursday. I am SOOO excited. If I could ride a road bike in my 50 mile ride in two weeks, that would be so SWEEEEET!!

And you all thought food was a powerful addiction. I would sleep with my bike if it didn't get grease on my sheets. He's blue, perhaps reflecting my new fascination with blue eyes??

Gina,
First off let me say..glad you didn't get hurt! Second, you had me cracking up! That sounded like something that would happen to me! You must be superwoman to do this so close out! Or I must be superwhimpy!
I haven't been walking or doing much of anything in the area of exercise and you inspired me! I do it in spurts (for a few days here and there) then quit because it's too hot, too tired, too much else to do...wahh waaahhhh waaaahhh. Nope-no more excuses. Thanks for making me smile! I might even try biking instead....being careful of course not to "pull a Gina" and leave early enough You are going to do great! Good luck!

I'm not 6 weeks out from my RNY, but from my plastic surgery. Don't think I'd have been able to do this last year!! And you can do it. Just don't listen to those old recordings in your head. The ones that say, "You're going to die!" I had to push through a lot of that to really learn what I am capable of. (Had a good friend help me with this) This ride tomorrow is part of the same process. Now that I have this new body - what can I do with it??

I'm actually going to go have a road bike private lesson Thursday. I'm on a hybrid now - but I had no idea how much I was going to love it! I will not, however, be buying the same bike as Lance Armstrong. But I will say, I know what he has...

Gina....
Nowwww I get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did think you were just out and doing this! I was thinking ...whhhaaatttt? I am really a lot worse off than I thought! I could still have a hard time walking a good 25 minutes without feeling like I am breathing thru a straw and you were talking 25 MILES! I was thinking to myself "calling my hubby at work..pick up some bread...oh yeah! and a mountain bike!" Maybe a bigwheel should be more like it!! However..that is still sooo awesome. I think I am going to make myself a goal for a walk/run that is about a year away. There is an "OBESITY WALK?RUN" at the end of this month that is only 1-3 miles. That would be a good start for me. I am proud of you and still cheering for you from the sidelines....(in a lawn chair...)
