Default pylori test

Hello my name is lori and i am new here ..I was approved from my insurance for surgery and had my blood test done but i tested positive for the pylori test it is a bacteria in the stomack .what I would like to know is has anyone elese tested positive but still had the surgery. I have called my Dr and left messages but no one has called me back..I have read here how helpful everyone is here and thought maybe someone could help me ...best of luck to all who are just starting the prosses like me THANK YOU ...LORI

Welcome Lori,

I would think that the Dr would give you something to clear it up.Retest and then it should be a go for surgery.Keep us posted.There are a lot of madical folks on here who will chime in I am sure.

I tested positive for Pylori too. My MD prescribed prev-pac for me. Basically it's four different antibiotics you take twice a day for two weeks. The pills were Prevacid, Biaxin, and two 500 mg Amoxicillin. It wasn't a big deal at all to my surgeon and he even said I could have taken them after the surgery if I hadn't done it before. HTH

Thanks for the info. My family Dr put me on antibitics for it he got a copy of the blood test thats how i found out i was positive ...LORI

I just got a call and I tested positive for H. Pylori too. I'll be picking up antibiotics today. I'm glad it's nothing serious and can be treated with meds!

i just got called by my doc as i was also dx with a positive h pylori. drats that stinkin bacteria!! haha have to go see him today and get the meds, another 2 weeks i gotta wait - then retest then submit to insurance. ::crossing fingers::

Geez....I just found out from my surgeon office that I have to get a test done to confirm if I have Hpylori as well.... I"m so glad I found this site for support.

Don't be upset or surprised if you have it. It's VERY common. I didn't see this post before I was "diagnosed" with it. I was like (to the nurse)-What does that mean? Is it life-threatening? LOL
