Cool Gastric Bypass: The Musical

My wife and I were joking around and came up with this version of Tina Turner's "What's Love Got To Do With It." As I get closer and closer to my surgery date (September 24th) I'm appreciating any amount of humor I can get. I thought you folks would enjoy it too. We're going to rewrite popular songs with gastric lyrics as time goes on so that we end up with an entire musical by the time I've completed my journey. Maybe I have too much time on my hands.

“What’s Fat Got To Do With It”

You can’t understand
‘Til you’ve stood where I am
And see how others react.
But besides those blank stares
It’s my health in despair
And I want it back.

It`s painful, yes.
But it’s fixable
You must try to accept
That I’m more than my snacks.

[Chorus]
Oh what’s fat got to do, got to do with it
What`s fat, but a little more to love?
What`s fat got to do, got to do with it
Who needs this crap
When I can just rise above?

It may seem to you
That I’m acting confused
But let me assure you, please
Gastric bypass is not
The easy way out
That most think it to be

It’s a major thing
And nothing else has worked
But whatever the reason
I’m doing it for me

[Chorus]

I`ve been thinking of a new direction
For over a decade
I`ve been thinking of living my life
Instead of acting what I weighed.

Oh what’s fat got to do, got to do with it
What`s fat, but a little more to love?
What`s fat got to do, got to do with it
Who needs this crap
When I can just rise above?

Default I'm there with you

I wrote a song about my surgeon to the tune of "Copacabana" by Barry Manilow. The residents offered me money to sing the whole thing for them, (I sang a few lines directly after my surgery. Drug haze, you know) but I just couldn't do it to the man. He still holds the scalpel, you know??
