Home Phone/Cell Phone
I know, I am the Queen of off the wall questions this week. I just got my home phone bill for $57 dollars. We don't even use our home phone...how can it cost this much... anyway, my question is...do any of you just use your cell phone for everything and not have a home phone? How is that working for you?

I actually use Vonage as my home phone now. It is 14.99 a month with 500 minutes per month. I don't use 100! If you have high speed internet you can get this easy. You can even transfer your phone number so it doesn't change.
I have it only so I can interact with DIrect TV for my TiVo uploads, or whatever they do. lol
If you want unlimited minutes on vonage it is still only 24.99!!

Cindy,
That does seem average to me.We used to pay Sprint $24 just to have a dial tone and then I paid someone else for my long distance which was only about $15-$20 a month. The amount seems right around average to me.Is that amount($57) with in a normal range for your family?
We now have VOIP and my phones run off the cable modeum...
I like having a home phone myself but know some younger folks who just have a cell phone ...maybe cause they live at home...DUHHHH...
Cindy,If I was not working and didn't have a child and my parents had passed...I don't think I would ever answer the phone.I'm just not a phone person.

I too was keeping my home phone so that my Dish Network could download...then when we moved I found out the for $5 more a month it would download through the satellite and didn't HAVE to be pluggedd into a phone jack...would have been nice if Dish Network would have told us that 2 years ago.

I mostly use my cell as my main phone, but I still have a home phone (mainly because I'm on dial up still ), but all I have is one line no extra's no caller ID no call waiting etc, and my bill is less than 20 a month thru SBC, oops I mean AT&T now. I have a lot of friends that just use a cell phone, and have no home phone and it works well for them. The only downside is all the kids have to have a cell phone also.

Switch to VOIP, like vonage or something similar and pay PEANUTS for phone usage. That way you can still have a home phone but not pay an arm and a leg.
