We have basic phone, limited basic cable and high-speed internet all bundled through Cox. We use our cell phones for toll calls, as we never seem to use the 700 minutes/month.

VoIP is a terrific way to go (I work for a company that sells voip products ). But, DH and I have been cellular for years. One cell phone bill, and high speed cable, and we're good to go

Default We're bundled

We have our phone, super high-speed Internet and cable and DVR through Charter here, and love it... don't know how I lived all these years without DVR... We did just the cellphone thing for about six months after we got here, but it started really running our minutes up, so we got the phone added to our Charter service. My husband's company pays for our Internet connection, which is about $70 of our bill, as he has to be hooked in to their system in Texas. So all we pay is the phone and cable/DVR, about $80 combined. I'm probably going to get rid of my cellphone in April when my contract's up.

Default no land line

We have been cell only for over a year now. At first I thought I would just freak out, not having a "home" phone. But, actually, it's better for me. I always have the cell with me and never miss a call (especially those oh-so-important calls from all these doctors).Everybody in my extended family also has Alltel. We never go over on our minutes (5 people sharing the minutes) My husband is a good negotiator.

Jeanie made me realize that the cell phone idea wouldn't work because the kids are going to start getting calls and they are too young for cell phones... I was going to do the Vonage thing, but when I researched it more you have to plug the Vonage in through your modem and my wireless modem is in my garage and there is no phone line out there... so I can't go that way either. I am thinking about calling my phone company and completely blocking the option of dialing long distance so that would force us to use our cells for that and then our bill would be down to $45...still not the $14.99 I was looking forward to with Vonage.

Cindy, did you check into the cable telephone service? If it's available, there is no charge for long distance calls....
