I have a PC that i don't use that I have it all set up through. Do you have a stationary PC somewhere in the house?
I'm sure they can help you figure it out. Give them a ringy dingy and ask them!

I work from home so I have to have a home phone, but I use Vonage. It's $25 a month and works through your cable/dsl. If you don't use your home phone that much but still want to have a home phone they also have a lower plan with I think like 500 minutes a month that costs $14.95 before tax. They do have 911 service on it so it work just like a regular phone. If you can't quite decide to give up your home phone it might be a good option for you.

It's 500 minutes for 14.99 or unlimited for 24.99. It's great. the 911 service works too.

It is easy to hook it up to that PC. As for the phone number.. that is odd. Will it be that much trouble to get a new one?

They basically have to get the phone number released from your phone company and some of them are not very nice about it. That will suck if you can't get it released. Sometimes it takes them a few days to get it released so maybe it'll still happen

Cindy what cable company do you use? Don't know if it's available, but we have our phone through Time Warner (our cable company). I know that Cox does it too. We pay $90 a month for cable, internet, and phone - long distance included -

I have Time Warner for my internet, but not my cable t.v. Hmmm...maybe I will call them and see how much they charge for phone.

It's a flat rate per month, usually in the $30 range, for local, long distance, etc. Only drawback is if your cable goes out, so does your phone, but we all four have cellphones so no big deal if it does...

Michelle, we have no land line at all. We had our home phone number made to ring on my cell phone (husband has his own cell phone and number). Satellite TV (DirecTV) runs fine without calling in daily. And I even have TiVo, and that works properly.
We have no kids at home now, just hubby and me. This works well for us. The ONLY time I have a "problem" is when I have to fax something -- I usually just overnight it, or go to the UPS store in town and they send it. That has happened once since February.
