My Feet Hurt!!!!
So, I was wondering....... Im still in the process of getting all of my test done and stuff but I just wanted to know as I begin to lose weight granted they approve me for gastric bypass will my feet continue to hurt. When I walk more than a mile my feet really start to hurt. And I use to work a sea world san diego and I had to stand on my feet for hrs and I couldnt stand by the end of the night. Will that go away? Does anyone no what im talking about?

Mine are much better
I deal with standing and walking MUCH better now than I did before. I was diagnosed with bone spurs in both feet and plantar fasciitis in my right foot, including having cortisone shots directly into my heels, while I still weighed 300 pounds. I have zero foot pain now. I've hiked as much as seven miles without any problems with my feet.
My knees, on the other hand, did NOT get better.

Hmmm, I guess the answer to this question is that there are no guarantees (as Lisa said above, her knees did not improve). My own experience is that I went from being wheelchair bound (or a walker on a good day) to being pain free in my back. And yes, my feet no longer hurt when I walk. And I walk two miles 4 times a week.
But this is only ONE of the miraculous types of results from this surgery. Can you tell I'm so glad I had it!!!??

I did not have any real noticeable problems pre-op...now after I have been dealing with bad knees, strained elbows and my hip bones grind and pop all the time.I am sure being obese for over ten years messed up my joints ..it is just now that I am feeling the pain.
The knees and elbows are just a on going nag but I do have an appointment for the hip...the hip popping and grinding when I walk scares me.

knees!
It's good that you brought this up! My knees are in real bad shape! I'm 32 and I have the knees of a 65yr old (no offence to anyone) They already told me I need a knee replacement, but that I'm to young! I'm also wondering how they will feel after the weight loss? I'm sure there won't be as much presure! But the one knee there is no cartlidge in it at all the bones are touching! OUCH! Well I guess I will soon find out!

I had orthotics
Hey there. I had "heel spurs" in both feet and was in so much pain. I had to wear this stupid "boot" at night to relieve the pressure and do stretches. They were awful. I also had orthotics in my shoes to try to help (it helped a little) but it started when I was preggers, over 300 pounds on my little 5' 2" frame and there was no hope.
Within 50 pounds of surgery - it was gone. Done. History. I threw the orthotics out. No pain at all now and I was on the verge of having surgery on my feet!
So if this is what your pain is, it may well improve. But it depends upon the level of damage you've done to your feet already. I venture to say, I don't see why it would get worse anyway...You can go see a podiatrist at least and find out what is going on.
Good luck!

Judging from the changes in my knees and feet since I got in process for WLS I'm thinking a body knows good things are coming and starts falling apart to keep us interested. I sure as hell hope it gets better!!!

I am 5'2 and 318Lbs also so like someone said above I dont no what kind of damage i have done. im 21 and I use to dance and run and then I started gaining weight after high school and the foot pain started to come. So I have only had foot pain for like maybe 4 years so hopefully I havent done that much damage. It just seems like im about to die after like 5 hrs of my feet.

So glad you brought this up. My knees and feet have been giving me problems lately and these are just 2 of the things that I'm hoping GBS helps!

My feet don't hurt anymore. They got smaller, and even though the bones are closer to the surface, they are good to go now. I walked around Disneyland and California Adventure with my family for 2 days, and though I got tired, and my legs got sore, my feet were fabulous.
