Default Oh the stress!

Now that I have my date (Aug 20) I find that I an nearly consumed by inevitibility of this surgery. I am not sleeping easily, when I am asleep, I dream about it. When I am at a computer I am reading personal stories (good and bad) from people who have had the surgery - some of the bad is really bad!!

How have people handled to stress leading up to the surgery?

Mike, I think you're starting with the 'crazy' a little sooner than I did...I was fine until the weekend before, then I got all kinds of crazy. I was pretty calm with gathering information, reading others stories and doing my pre-op plan. It was when things went into a lull, right before, that I got really, really nervous. I guess I'm trying to say, what you're feeling is perfectly normal. Most of us don't go thru surgery or to the hospital very often. This was my first hospital stay, with the exception of the birth of my son, and they kicked me out the day after I had him! LOL. So, I was more nervous about simply being in the hospital, than the surgery itself. I hope you find a good way to bide your time. Do you have a hobby? Any rooms in your home need painting or remodelling? hee...

I think you're pretty normal. The surgery consumed every waking and sleeping thought I had. I was madly doing research, talking to others about their experiences, and preparing my house/bills (nesting). It is major, and if you didn't have a care about it, I would be very concerned for you...but you are normal

Hey Mike,

We have a lot in common I see. I am 33 and my date is Aug 17th. I don't dream about it but it is constantly on my mind. My biggest thing is it FEELS like its months away. I want it to get here and get going.

However, I am sure I will have some "buyers remorse" a little while after its over.

And like you I am on here a lot, most of the time I don't post but reading and observing as best one can about how others are doing, good and bad.

We should keep in touch to see how each other is doing...

I didn't know my date that far ahead of time. I guess that's a good thing. I was really busy at work the week of so I didn't have time to think until the night before then I was a crying fool. Don't worry to much about it. It's normal to be worried, scared, etc. Just try to keep yourself busy.
