Default to all my wls experts:

Ok, so i was sitting here thinking to myself about my upcomming surgery and the life afterwards......since i am getting a lap band, my weight loss will be slower then most people with GB, and yet i know that it doesnt happen over night or in a week or 2, but it takes time, i know someone mentioned that its not a race, but i know that i want it NOW lol anyways, just wanted to ask you guys, what kept you motivated and got you going through those time where you are working hard on it, eating right foods and exercising and hit plateau or the weight loss has slowed down ( i had that happen a lot with dieting before)... how do you go through that emotionally? and how long did it take you to reach your goal?

Personally, I don't know what kept me going. I started having some pretty big issues just a few months post op (emotional, not physical). If it hadn't been for the people here and Andrew, who knows where I'd be.

Default My doctors nurse told me...

keep a journal. You may not be losing weight buy you are losing inches. And it was true. Seeing the inches coming off and having hard copy of it helped with the low of "I'm not losing any weight". Everyone's different. I hit a lot of plauteus, but after reading out here I also have come to realize that I did a lot of things wrong the first few months out. I didn't know any better. If you have any other questions make sure you ask. There are so many out here ready and willing to help. Good luck with your up coming surgery!

definitely take measurements! Often when the numbers don't go down, on the scale, the inches on your measurements will!
