Default FAT Tax in England

Maybe this isn't a bad idea after all for the U.S.

Let's take it a step further, and remove taxes on healthy snacks!

I'm not opposed to the idea if it would help, but I don't think it would help. Knowing myself I suspect would just pay more

I actually love this idea!

It may not work for a lot of people, but I have no problem admitting it, in some ways I am cheap. When tax caused cigarrette price to keep climbing I quit. It had to get up to $5 a pack, but it was the money that pushed me. Wow, that was over six years ago, it was also in NY (just a little more expensive then TN ). Anyway I just like the idea.

Default Problems with this idea

This is a political power bomb waiting to go off. It says that not all things are on the list. So now politicians could pick and choose who is on the tax list hurting competition and business for not contributing enough to campaign funds or whatever.

On top of that, where will all the people who will be out of work go? I would surmise that the amount of money the GOVERNMENT gets will still not be enough to support the families that would be out of work.

And lets say it did pay for those people or they all found other jobs. The government elite group would just line their pockets or give friends and family members more "work" at high wages, or worse yet they setup a new social program that is one more step to government slavery. (easy, I am not against helping those who NEED help, but to... just playing devils advocate)

I wont really get on a rant but the government is not supposed to be our mother's or nannies. We need to take responsibilities for ourselves. Whether its not eating so much or making a decision to have WLS it should be up to us.
