I came this close...
to buying a terrific dress at Sears today for 50% off. Really loved the colors and it's the style I like. Wrong size! It's a 14 and right now I wear a 22. <groan>
Part of me really wants to go back to Sears and buy that dress NOW. Make it a "goal" dress.
Did any of you purchase much smaller clothes before surgery that would take awhile to get into?

Yep, I most certainly did. I don't thing there is anything wrong with having a goal dress. So I would say GO FOR IT!!! I made a point of buying mini-goal pants every once in a while. It was always such a rush when I could get into them.

Sure I've bought clothes that were 'mini-goal' items. There are about 4 items in my closet I've gotten that are a bit too small when I got them. Tonight I bought a top that was on sale, a misses size xxl for what I thought would fit next month. When I got home I tried it on and it FIT!!! And it has horizonal stripes!!!! W O W what a difference --- from the mens 4xl I had filling my closet. I still have the 'fat girl' mentality but I'm starting to see the difference.

gonna go shopping!
That settles that! I'm going back to Sears tomorrow! Might see if they have a 12! Yeah!!
I actually have a box full of size 10-12 clothes I have from my Fren-fen (never can remember how that spelled) I lost 92 pounds in one year...FDA yanked it and I gained it all back plus more.
I can't wait to be a winning loser!!!!!!!!

Yeppers - buy the dress as a mini goal, because you will fit into it...and will probably end up goving it away later and buying an even smaller size

I have a whole other closet full of beautiful things I can't wait to get into. I'm size 24 now and I have bought clothes ranging from 20 to 16. They are definitely an inspiration.
Go buy the dress, you'll be happy you did!

Absolutely!
In fact I bought one goal item and almost didn't get to wear it becasue ti looked so small I kept thinking nope not yet.... then when I finally siad what the heck and tried it on...almost to big!
Buy the dress you deserve to have something waiting for you with all the hard work you put in...
Another suggestion is to hang it in plain sight... the last time i did this I looked at it daily and worked towards it and it was sweet the day it fit!

I have a I think sz 14 or so dress that is my "goal" dress. It hangs in my closet and I see it on a pretty regular basis. It's cute and adorable and I can't WAIT to wear it! (and my hubby can't wait for me to wear it either!!!)

Yep!
I've been fortunate to have someone give me some pants and shirts in various sizes - some that fit now (size 18) and some smalled - all used, of course - so I went through all the pants, measured them and pinned a label on them and lined them up in my closet from largest to smallest waist size. I celebrate when I "outgrow" any of them. I visit the consignment shops and purchase smaller clothes. Manufacturers have changed clothing sizes over the years - I know I have some size 24 jeans that I still can't get into now - they're about an inch too small in the waist!
And I recently went to Cato's and bought 2 jackets, one khaki and one olive for $2.99 and $7.99. They were size 14 - who knows if I'll be in a size 14 when the weather is suitable for them, but what the heck - I only spent $10!!!
I say go for it - get the dress!!!
