I finally get it!
You know, I have heard so many times that muscles are heavier than fat, and today I finally put it all together in terms of my own present stage.
I began a pretty conscientious exercise schedule in the last couple of months, and I thought, surely, that this would accelerate my weight loss. It didn't. But I am getting smaller every day - just not on the scale as much as I would like.
Truth be told, my thighs and arms (and back) have had no muscle strength at all in the past, and I'm happy to be stronger and am able to walk up steps without appearing to be - well -- my age! But this is why the scale is not cooperating. I "AM" getting smaller, but the muscles are getting heavier.
Does it ever even out?

The basic thing going on is that fat takes up more space - I mean a pound of fat is weighs the same as a pound of muscle, but the muscle is dense. So as you burn the fat for fuel you create lean muscle. Muslce burns more calories than fat too - so you're getting more efficient.
Does it even out? Not sure what you mean. You have to keep working harder to lose more weight, but as you get more in shape, you do so pretty much naturally. You will keep losing, if that is what you mean. As fast as you want to? Don't know if that is possible!!
Sounds like you're doing great!!

Hi Gina, and thank you for your reponse!
What I meant by even out is, at the end (goal), and I'm in a size 6, will the scale say 120, or 140 because of all the muscle? That's the confusing part for me.

I know this will not be what you want to hear, but everyone is different. I worked out hard before and after my surgery, and my doc was very pleased because I only had to have my hernia repaired and a TT, but when he did the TT he only had to take about 6 pounds of skin, and no lipo was needed. I was 272 at my highest, 243 the day of GBS, and 125 the day of my TT (I had gone below goal due to stress at the time). I came out at 119, and average about 125-126 right now. Your journey may be different depending on your body shape, age, beginning weight, but look at it this way - no matter how you end up, you will be a world healthier and so much more comfortable that pre op
