Smile The Day of Surgery....

hi All,
I just got my approval for lap band.... dont have my surgery date yet, but want to hear from people that have been through it, how did you feel on the day of the surgery..... when they put you to sleep and the feeling when you wake up..... i never had a major surgery that required anestesia ( not sure i spelled it right) so i am a bit curious

I had RNY, but had no problems with the anesthesia. It is actually an odd experience when you wake up from it. It is almost like time stood still. You get the anesthesia in your IV bag, and the next thing you know, you wake up in a new room, there are people bustling all about you in the recovery room, and you've had a procedure done to your body and you can't remember any of it.

It is kind of like a time warp. It's kind of disorientating as well because you wake up and you ARE in a different place. There is also pain when you wake up. That always freaks me out a little bit but just let the nurses know that and they will hook you up with pain meds. I am guessing that because you're not having anything actually cut from your body that your pain may not be as bad as a full gastric bypass but I honestly don't know it really depends on how your body processes and deals with pain.

Good luck on your journey!!
