I made it!
So, I tried to post this earlier this morning and it didn't work. Let's see how it goes now.
I should have known something was going to go wrong when I left for the airport on Saturday without my jack sweater. Most people know that I am NEVER without that article of clothing. It's like my security blanket. Without it, I seriously froze the entire trip. Okay well except for the one time where I had to actually exit the airport in Phoenix to get on a bus to go to another terminal....then for a minute I was pleasantly warm.
So, let's start with San Diego. The people at check in didn't know how to read the paper from the state department saying I had applied for a passport. Because I don't physically have a passport, this was the paper that would allow me to cross the border. They then asked for a birth certificate. When you apply for a passport, they take your birth certificate. I mean you get it back, but they still take it. I'll get it back when I get my passport. So they took my driver's license and checked me in.
Once in Phoenix in the proper terminal(after wandering around and getting lost), they almost didn't check me through security because my ticket wasn't an "official" United ticket....being an e-ticket and all. But they clear me, I get on the plane and head off to Chicago.
I planned to sleep on the plane, since it was an almost 4 hour flight, but I couldn't. I watched Road Hawgs (Tim Allen, John Travolta movie). It was pretty funny. After the movie, I slipped on my iPod and stared out the window. Yeah it was pitch black, but every so often you'd see a patch of lights and wonder where in the heck you were flying over. And the stars, oh god it was so beautiful. I got to watch the sunrise over the Eastern seaboard. That in itself was an experience.
Landed in Chicago, grabbed Starbucks (weeeeeeeee) and waited for the next plane. This one was delayed about 15 minutes, no biggie. I got on, had to fill out a form for customs and away we went. I swear I felt like a little kid staring out the window like I was. You'd think I'd never been in a plane before. Flying over the great lakes was...well...wow. And once we started our descent into Toronto, I was able to pick out little landmarks. I was so excited!
I had to go through 3 customs people, but apparently Canada thinks that I'm okay to roam about the country and they let me through. Unfortunately, my luggage didn't exactly make it with me. That arrived in the wee hours of the morning on the doorstep at Andrew's house. For a little bit there, I was afraid I'd have to spend 24 days in one outfit....and whatever I could steal from Andrew's closet.
I love Toronto. I love the brick buildings, I love how they spell things wrong (centre, colour, favourite, teeheehee). I love the water and the trees (not a single palm tree in sight!). The houses here where I am are absolutely amazing. We drove through the town last night and the buildings look very small townish and beautiful. I even stood in Lake Ontario for a few moments (it was freezing!!).
Sorry San Diego, I think I've found my new home.

Parles-toi Francais? C'est plus importante de vivre en Toronto!
Glad you made it Jenny, I was wondering how it was going. You were so stressed before you got on your plane....
Picked a day yet?

I got to do some shopping in downtown Cobourg and it was wonderful. There are so many little boutique style shops, very quaint and absolutely lovely. Driving home, we went down this road with tall tall trees on either side. I want to go back and take some pictures. As soon as I get out and about (oot and aboot heehee) to take some decent pictures I'll get them posted. Also, the waterfront festival is this coming weekend, so I'm sure lots of pictures will be taken then as well.

We'd like to, but as of yet don't know if legalities and finances will allow it. There's some drama going on already and I haven't even been here a week yet. Not my drama....the ex husband causing drama. Oh well, this will all be over with soon. And if things go my way, I'll be back up here before the winter...for good this time.
