Do NOT fly Horizon/Alaska/Northwest/KLM. Was on the fright from hell with them. We blew an engine mid-flight from Seattle - Honolulu, they never told us anything. Our air conditioning went out about 3 hours from Honolulu. And then just when I thought it would be over and we were landing, our wheels were almost touching the ground when the plane went straight back up into the air. 20 minutes later, the pilot came on the intercom to let us all know that we were about 20 miles out to sea and that our landing gear was NOT coming down. We were to obey what the flight attendants were saying and practice our crash landing positions. Yup... you know, the kind where you're kissing your butt good bye. We landed that way, our landing gear came down at the last possible moment. As we were taxiing into the terminal one of the flight attendants decided to make a snarky remark by saying "Welcome to Honolulu, at least we made it THIS TIME." Like OMG what was she thinking? Am thinking they landed that plane the same way when they landed in Seattle from Minnesota. Needless to say, I will NEVER fly again. I was petrified of flying before, but that was the icing on the cake... NEVER again.
Enjoy your vacation.

This thread makes me GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the saying in my life is I WILL go to Hawaii and take a cruise before I die. What is really sickening is I had tickets in hand and reservations made the year me and my ex got divorced and I would not go with him because I was afraid he would get me over there, take all of our money and leave me! LOL But that's another story. I just probably handed away the only opportunity I would ever have to go there. Bummer! Will have to move that back to the top of my list of things to do!!!!!
Rain, I hope you and your family have a blast! How long will you be gone?

Rain, When you're in Kona, you HAVE to go to Pikake Beads and tell Jasmin you know me. She's my husband's niece, and just got married last October. She's the owner of the bead shop, and she has some absolutely gorgeous jewelry there. If you get there, give her a hug for me!
