OMG, I ADORE Monty Python!!! I'm sure the tix are thru the roof, tho.

You could go golfing....

We'd love to go but there are so many obstacles in the way, not the least of which is $$$$$....can't even afford Hotel 6 these days. But shoot, I would love to play in Vegas any old time!

I'll just have to stay home and watch my substantial collection of Monty Python episodes...I'll have a Python-athon!

I love Vegas! I'm actually going twice in July. The first time to celebrate our 40th bdays with my best friend and the 2nd for my daughter to attend a dance convention! One thing you could do is go indoor skydiving!

Default Sporty stuff

We lived there for four years--there are some sporty things to do in Las Vegas. The hotel may be able to get you some comps for the local golf courses, which are outstanding, and utterly beautiful, all that green in the desert landscape.

Hoover Dam - you can take the "dam tour," which tends to be hilarious. Also beautiful.

Red Rocks was already mentioned, beautiful hikes available.

Mount Charleston is also not far away. Just a single mountain rising out of the desert. It has it's own habitat, it's always 10 to 30 degrees colder than the desert below, and it's gorgeous. Has species there found nowhere else, and thousands of hummingbirds.

Ask the concierge at the Luxor--they're grateful if you call them ahead of time, particularly before a big holiday weekend, because it gives 'em time to work their contacts. Tell 'em "sporty," and see what they can come up with!

Wow, cool...thanks for the ideas everyone! I knew I'd get a good response from all you fun loving folks

Lisa - don't know why I didn't even THINK of asking the concierge! Where is my brain??

Whit - jeez, girl...still going to NY when I offer VEGAS?! *SIGH!!* I guess...if you MUST But another time, it had better be on!

Pat - OOOOOOH BOY! That is a FANTASTIC idea and I will be proud to do my part on behalf of the group I bet there are a lot of hotels that would have pretty darn good group rates, but I'll make sure to tell them, "Uh, no tickets to the buffet, please!"

Zen - OOH horseback riding! I'd love to go, but I think the man is going to give me a LOOK and say, "That's too much work just for a steak at the end" ROFL. Thanks for the heads up on Murder Mystery and Tony & Tina's wedding. We always go back and forth about whether it would be funny or not, so good to get an endorsement!

Spamalot - we're already planning on going. Actually Donna, tix aren't too bad: $99 for orchestra and it goes down from there. I'll let you know how it is!

Love the indoor skydiving idea - I'm going to see where I could do that...and see if the price is merely ridiculous or ridiculously outrageous.

BTW - thanks for the heads up on the construction. We passed by a bit of it during Labor Day weekend, so good to know that we still need to plan accordingly. We usually leave around 4am on the 1st day of vacation, so no worries there. I'll make sure I wave as I drive by Pat!

The NYNY roller coaster is amazing! I rode it back in 2000 when hubby and I were there on our honeymoon. I was probably pushing 400 at that point and I fit in it. I was shocked! I asked and they actually let me try out a seat before purchasing the ticket and being stuck if I didn't fit. They were really nice about it. I was shocked!

Anyway, living in North Carolina makes getting a Vegas difficult, but I do plan on going for some anniversary sometime since we did go there on our honeymoon. Hmmm, maybe for number 10? That is just in 3 years! Have a blast!

Whoa Lisa, you're like my personal concierge, thanks

I've been trolling around lasvegas.com, like I always do before a trip. But that list is really helpful, because I can go through and do the, "done it, done it, seen it, gotta do it" thing

And what's the disc tickets thing? I don't really understand what that is.
