Well we are back home now. I have calmed down a bit about the situation but that is just crazy what they now want! One officer said we had the choice to turn around (with 2.5 hrs of documentation to complete), refuse to go back (then we are in trouble!) or simply pay about 300 US $ for EACH kid to get the US to "waive" our lack of passports, I nearly told him where he could stick his forms but the look on Andy's face was "don't get shitty with them or you will get arrested!" So we spent the night in LAand then drove over to Fernie in BC. The manager at the Best Western in Fernie got to hear our story (yep I told everyone that would listen!) and he very kindly put us in one of their best suites for $99 a night! ( regularly about $250!!) so the weekend wasn't so bad. We spent a lot of time driving though as we are looking for property/land in the Koocanusa area so it was time well spent. Found one property on 45 acres that might work out, its also subdivideable too. The funniest thing was, the day after the border episode I looked at my horoscope in the LA Herald from the "border day" and this is what it said:
Aries
"Reconsider what you want to do after looking into what it will take to continue. Some problems with red tape or getting the proper documentation can be expected. A loss will eventually bring positive results." I laughed my butt off! Should have read it B4 going to the bloody border!!!!
