Awwh, thanks ladies that is so sweet of you!

I had a fabulous day (even though I worked) Woke up to some cards and money (always good!), I got some flowers from Andy, they were very unusual and the arrangement included red calla lillies! I got taken out for lunch with Andy and my staff, "celebrated with Andy"

(oh not with my staff watching or anything!!) and now I am just waiting for a friend to turn up to go out for supper!

Tomorrow we are off to Great Falls, Montana for a 4 night stay, our only chance to get away before my big day (32 days away!!!!) Whilst I am down there I am on a sugar free anything hunt! Looking at the supermarkets up here there is not a huge choice!!!

OH MY ****ING GOD what a nightmare day I have had! We were turned away at Coutts border crossing because the US border patrol decided that our kids should have their own passport and not just be on ours! We have NEVER had an issue with this before, we spent 2.5 hrs at the border and it was hell. I just ended up balling my eyes out. Our friends in the car in front are Canadian so had not problems at all. Border said Andy and I were fine but that we had to return to Canada so BOOM went our much needed break away. SO, we are now sat in the Comfort Inn in LA (where are you Lori P!!!) We are staying here tonight and then going to go to Fernie in BC for the next 3 nights. Our friends are currently in Great Falls missing us! I have a steaming headache from all the stress!!!!!!

Oh my goodness!!!!! What a nightmare for you Samm.

The inconsistancy at the border drives me crazy. That rule about having passports doesn't even come into play for how many more months or was it 2008? To let one through and not the other how stupid.

My daughter just went south with her grandparents a week ago. They too crossed at the Coutts border. I don't yet have passports for my kids so they crossed using her birth certificate and a letter of permission from us, her parents.

Samm how frustrating for you and your family you were really looking forward to this trip and time away. Hope you have fun in Fernie though it is one of our favorite places. It's just not as fun when plans get changed though and friends are where you were suppose to be.

So sorry that you had such a time at the border. That truly sucks. It's really stupid because even on the website for the borders it says that you do not need a passport until sometime next year to cross into the US in a car. It says that a birth certificate and photo id will do. I just don't understand it.

Hope you are having a good time in Fernie though. Haven't been there since last Mother's Day when Shawn and I were coming home from Radium.

Oh Samm, thats awful. I don't have my passport yet, trying to wait until things slow down as they are SO backed up here getting them out. I am scared to send away my identification to the city, what if I need it. They are taking 2-3 months to get the ID back to you with the passport.

I would take up issue with them over this. The new law for ground travel is not in effect yet. I would be writing a letter.

None the less, have fun in Fernie.......you need the break away.
