Default Things I did today that I couldn't do before surgery!

1. I painted my toenails!
2. I cleaned my bathroom today for two hours without taking a break to rest my back. Even washed my hot rollers & my wood cabinets!
3. Felt my collarbone. Ok, I admit, I can't SEE it yet...but I've been worried for a week that I had a tumor on my thyroid. Dang, it just happened to be my collarbone!
4. Ate 1/3 of my breakfast at my favorite restaurant this morning and didn't feel deprived when I left.
5. Wearing jeans with zipper in front (not elastic waist) and even cleaned my bathtub with them on--all that stooping and bending.

There are tons more but these were on my mind and I wanted to say...Whoooopeeee!

Leesa, I'm very excited for you. I'm not very far along in this process but it's still a joy to see those who "cross over" after me and I anticipate the thrills you all have ahead of you.

I went for my 3 month post-op yesterday. My blood pressure is normal WITHOUT meds. My glucose went from 294 to 94 without meds. Every single thing they measured in my blood work was NORMAL!!

That's the big payoff....

That's a huge pay-off and makes the things you did today even more special! I have a huge list of the positives written down and of course all the healthy things are on top...but I gotta tell you I would be lying my a** off if I said I wasn't excited about itty bitty clothes and looking GOOD in them.
Congrats on the awesome 3 months post -off and I hate to wish my life away but imagine 6 months...........

Life is good!

Deb, you are experiencing what I have been over the past 2 to 3 weeks. You are realizing you are alive again and able to do what "normal" people do and take for granted. I was going to start a thread on this, but happy you did. I have noticed such a difference lately in my whole being!

1. Mowed lawn today for the second weekend in a row. (Couldn't fit on the mower before or even felt like riding it)
2. Planted flowers last weekend in my shrub beds. (Couldn't even bend to touch the ground last year at this time.)
3. Wore jeans (with a belt!) for the first time in 5 to 6 years two weeks ago.
4. Shaving legs in bathtub since about 3 weeks ago and wondering whose legs have been attached to my body for me to shave!
5. Cleaning my own house on a weekly basis now! (couldn't even stand to load the dishwasher this time last year)
6. Can cross my arms in front of my body and they innertwine perfectly and is comfortable.
7. Can scratch EVERY part of my own back and EVEN reach with my opposite hand behind me to the OTHER buttcheek! (Did this jus cuz I can) LOL
8. Can sit in the floor for a long while and then still be able to get myself back up without holding on to every piece of furniture in the living room and it taking 5 minutes. (It's a miracle to even get down to the floor without falling there, unintentionally of course!)
9. Can sit in my honey's lap without cutting off his circulation and air at the same time and watching his head turn red while he's fighting to get me off him! Now he PULLS me to his lap!
10. I can lay beside my honey with my head on his shoulder and my arm wrapped around him and talk for hours and not be struggling to breath or keep my head on him because my belly is so big that it's a fight to get and stay close to him. He also can still breathe while I do this! LOL (14 lbs and I will weigh less than him! YIPPPEEEEEEEEE, never done that before.)
11. Look foward to when he's home off the road now on weekends so I can work my leg muscles a little bit more. hehehe (Of course I do this strictly for the exercise) ROFL

There are SO many things I could never even begin to name it all and it is like my eyes have just been opened to all of this lately! All I can say is........It's ABOUT DAMN TIME! LOL

I didn't know being "normal" could taste so sweet...

I love your list and can't wait until I can do all that stuff too.

Default being "normal"

I think that's what all of us want.

My list includes:

1. being able to repaint and decorate a room
2. being able to walk more than to the corner and back without pain
3. being able to go out with my family and not have to sit through what they are doing.
4. having the energy to make it through the day at work without coming home and taking a nap
5. having the energy to vacuum without putting it off and off and off........

I'm sure there's more to come.

Here are a couple I thought about this week:

1: Sitting in a plastic chair and not worrying that it would break.
2: Walking into a restaurant and not having a mini panic attack as to if I will fit in a booth.
