Smile There IS a difference!

Ok, I'm not one of the people to have a real "wow" moment so far. Lot's of "Hey, cool" - but no WOW! Well, Mike and I just went on vacation to Las Vegas - (saw the race, had too much fun!!) and I noticed something while I was out there - people saw me. I mean acknowledged me, talked to me, etc. I was invited to join in the fun with the various venders, looked at in the eye, joined in the fun at the Speed stage. It was a real eye opener to be involved and really participate. Before vendors would have let me walk by (been there) - in fact I watched as they let other large people go by. I wanted to tell the very large woman who sat in front of me and struggled to get in and out of her seat that was way too small about the surgery. I felt for her, I could see in her eyes what I saw in myself 6 months ago. But, I've been in my world so long I never felt what I did in Vegas - I felt like a "normal" person. Maybe that was my wow moment, huh?

The pic is Mike and I in front of the new hotel - together, we're down 181 pounds!!!

great wow moment congrats

i totally understand the being more acceptable thing now and as for the heavy peeps around me, me too, i want to run up and hug them and hand them my surgeons phone number - i dont do that of course, its non of my business, but anyone that asks me how i lost my weight so fast, i tell them of my surgery, if they are overweight or not, i tell them if they ask, it may help someone down the road to know of someone that has been there.

your pic is great! thanks for sharing

Penny I would count that as a Wow moment. You seem like you had a really great time out there. This is the start of your journey, trust me when I say this is just the start of the WoWs.

I still get funny looks and may not be treated as well as the thinner woman stabding behind me but at least now I demand respect. I don't let people walk over me. I am more open to letting people know how I feel and putting people in their place when I feel I am being mistreated. Big congrats Penny.

Dear Penny:

My very first "WOW MOMENT"...I was buying gorceries @ Acme...I bent over my cart to pick up my "bottled water"...a BEAUTIFUL 20 year old something Guy asked if he could help me place my "water" on the belt...Well, Of course I kindly thanked him as always..."HE stated NO Problem...AND then proceeded to ask me out!!! NO KIDDING...WOW..I told him kindly I was indeed a married lady...WOW...what this operation has done for me!!!

(Still loving "My Old Baby")...
