Well, I got a call from my Step Mom this morning letting me know that my Dad is in the hospital with gangrene. The surgeons say they have to amputate and don't know how far up they have to go. Then I just got off the phone with my Dad and he says he isn't going to let them amputate...that he wants them to restore blood flow. He is having a MRI right now as we speak. What is the chance that they can restore blood flow to a toe that is black? I wouldn't think there is much hope...???

So sorry to hear about your Dad. I wish I knew the answer or was some help to you, but I did want to express my concerns. What a tough choice to make.

oh geesh.. once its gangrene... its too late isnt it? I thought gangrene meant it was decayed flesh? (not to be gross.. just what I thought)... I would think I would rather have it amputated now... to at least try to minimize the amount they have to if it gets worse?? Just my thoughts.. of course I have never been faced with that decision! I wish him the best of luck.. and a quick recovery no matter what he decides.. and Hugs all around!

I don't have any answers to your questions, but I wanted to tell you I am sorry your father is faced with this decision. All I can offer is prayers and hugs. Please let us know how he is doing.

Thanks, I haven't heard anything since he went in for his MRI...my brother-in-law is on his way to see what is going on.
