Dude I'm glad I signed on and got a little caught up here in the forum.

You must be jazzed as hell and having a hard time sleeping! I hope you've got a "reporting buddy" that can keep us apprised of how you're doing. Ya know, like did ya live thru the surgery, are you in ICU, is everything hunky dory...etc.

If you don't have one, get one!

I've NEVER been scared of surgery, but last night trying to go to sleep, I got freaked out. Now that it's morning, I'm sober, and the pain is searing through my body, I'm not scared, but last night wow, thought I might need a sedative.

It's not like me to get this worked up about something. It's just, after being in pain so long, I feel like I've won the pain free lottery. I pray this surgery really is the answer to all my prayers. If the lapband comes out and the pain is still there, it will be a serious blow, but still I've heard of RNY making people with fibromyalgia feel a little bit better.

Wow, just 4 more days til I wake up and go to the hospital!!!
I have fibromyalgia also. I have actually quit taking my fibro meds since having surgery. I just quit taking them myself without my doctor telling me to because I was taking 4 Lyrica a day. I have trouble swallowing so I figured I would give up the ones that I needed the least. I have not been in any fibro pain so I guess I will continue to not take them until I have a flare-up. I was taking 18 pills a day and now I am only taking 9.

Sweetie you quit taking lyrica cold turkey? You're supposed to slowly taper them down like you slowly build them up. I quit lyrica a couple weeks ago. After taking it for around 11 months, it just suddenly started making me feel crazy. I think my ulcer was making my body absorb more of it. Not sure tho.

Well the biggest reason why I went ahead and quit taking them is because the three days I was in the hospital they didn't give me any. Then when I came home I started taking my meds, but would get choked. So it was 1 week later before I was able to take my meds without choking. So I figured since I had been off them for a week it was the best time to just go ahead and quit. Crazy logic I know. lol

No hon that makes perfect sense. It was dangerous of them to not give you the lyrica tho. Doctors can be really stupid sometimes. They say if you don't taper down lyrica, it can give you seizures.

Just wanted to chime in and tell you I'll be thinking happy thoughts for you on Monday. What a tough road you've traveled...hope this time brings the comfort and results you're looking for!!!

By the way, I was an exchange student in A'dam for 9 mos when I was in college. Spent a lot of time in Utrecht too...my boyfriend lived there (i think i saw that's where you are??). I learned een beetje nederlands when I lived there, but you dutchies are just too good at english and I could never practice! I still have some favorite words I throw around like leuk and lekker though.
