Default Feeling very GRRRRRRR right now

I was listening tot he bairatric radio show can called in to talk about complications and revisions/reversals....

THEY SAID NO.... No I can't talk about it. This show is focused on helping people find ***positive*** solutions to obseity. WTF exactly is that all about?

I mostly just wanted to reach through the phone system and choke the girl....

I've had 2 long chats with Dani Hart, she wrote that book.... she considers herself a "survior" of WLS... Anyway when she was telling me about her family getting threats when she spoke out against the procedure and I was tinking "well... it's all about perspective...she may have felt threatened but most likely she just precieved it that way....

Now I'm wondering is there really a desire out there by individuals to down play or even hide the down sides of GBS?

Thanks to all of you that understand and sympathize with those of us that didn't get the cake walk after surgery and more importantly are going to lose the one tool that has helped us obese persons lose weight.

Paige, I'm sorry! That sucks! I don't like things glossed over, in any part of life - and especially not when I'm trying to make such a life changing decision here. I think they should show both sides on the show, especially something thta may potentially reach so many people - I guess in their narrowmindedness, that's the same reason they don't want to discuss it with you. {{{{}}}}

Honestly, I wouldn't be suprised if there weren't people deliberately wanting to downplay the negatives. I have seen stories, a couple on this forum, of peeps who have gone to clinics/centers specializing in nothing but GBS; they dream up seminars and things to charge you for, it seems to me. It definitely would not be in their best interest to have the complications, revisions and reversals discussed. I wonder who sponsors that radio show, hmmmm?
========
Me? I had the cakewalk, but you're never really out of the woods, so I follow your story and others so I can be aware of what still could go wrong, with my GBS, with a future panni, etc. I'm so sorry for what you're going through- and I absolutely believe that your side of the battle should be heard! No one should be threatened or feel threatened- the ones that won't let you talk are afraid of what they might hear. I did my homework for over 2 years- I wanted to hear it all! Not getting both sides of an story or an issue, whether about GBS, politics, religion, is just plain irresponsible!

Default I just looked it up....

it's sponsered by Bariatric Advantage producers Catalina Sciences... so I guess they will be getting an uncensored note from me tomorrow!

I use their product often and if that's what they do to promote it I guess I'll be looking for an alternative source of multi and calcium!

I breezed through my bypass with no problems.....almost died after my plastics....then ended up with a sudden GI bleed that landed me in the hospital with a hemoglobin of 6 two years after bypass.

Choice of having a stroke pre-bypass.....or bleeding to death post bypass......

Hmmmm....whatever will be my end, the hand was dealt and I will live my life to fullest that I can while I can. At least I will leave a good looking corpse.

Default this reminds me

Last time I was at my bariatric doctor I was sitting in the waiting room and really minding my own business. This overweight man sat across the room, and was so boisterous and loud that he was yelling across the room. He was asking us all how we were. I said I'm pretty sick today.. thanks. I wasn't in the mood really to chat. Wow what's wrong he bellows.. I sat there for a minute and thought respond, or not? So I responded.. LOL I said well if you want to know the truth I'm sick from WLS. I'm here to discuss reversing this with my Dr. His eyes got really big, and then what happened?? Just when I was to respond to him, they called me back to a room. I believe it was because they didn't want me in the waiting room discussing my failed surgery.

I agree with Marty. Problems should never be swept under the rug. I personally think the Bariatric community NEEDS to know EVERYTHING they are getting into when they opt to have this surgery. It is the medical community's responsibility to keep us informed of possible complications. Everyone needs to go into surgery with their eyes wide open. That holds true for any type of surgery...wls, plastics, gallbladder...what have you.

Paige, I do think that company needs to get a letter....that kind of response to your call is irresponsible on their part.
