Even with success...it may not last....they really don't go into the emotional hell you go through...there's very little support for long term out there.....I have met many people who have regained half to all the weight back post bypass. Of course, those people are staying in the shadows and not wanting to draw attention to themselves...can you imagine how rough their life is if people knew they had bypass and is still fat?

Isn't that what all these TV shows about the surgery do, too? I mean really - They show the before and the after but gloss over or completely ignore the journey between the before and after. They, too are encouraging people to get the surgery but not fully informing them of all the risks and complications. While I grant you most of us don't want to hear the downside, at this point in time I really wish that I had known more of the life changes that I would have to make. I wouldn't have made a different choice, but I could have been more knowledgeable.

Thumbs up Thanks to you brave souls

I really have to admit that we got lots of what could go wrongs during the process but I never thought of the reversal until our team brought it up because i too thought what is done is done. I am definately taking more interest in these posts and will voice those thoughts for you more often at support groups when i hear they cant be done. i had the lrny and two years ago when i asked what will happen to the stuff i dont need any more my dr. answer was "you never know when you might need something so we leave it in". I wonder what answers others are getting to that question. or if they even ask?
Prayers and good thoughts of health

Default I'm amazed at the number of reversals beign done

I'm starting to hear about them more frequently. i think it has more to do with the sheer number of GBS surgeries that have increased over the past few years, than anything else. Also surgeons I have spoken with always say the same thing... I've never had to reverse one of my paitents but I've done 7 or 8 from other doctors. makes me wonder why that happens? Can't we as individuals go back to our surgeons?

Again, it feels like those of us with severe complications are the black sheep of the family. Those long term people who have gained back partial or all their lost weight. Are the statistics really accurate on how successful this surgery is if those of us who fail long term or have complications disappear fromt eh community?

Theres a writer out there doing a story on the "non-rosey" side of GBS, the one that all the shows and radio commentaries miss or in some cases avoid.

My letter went unanswered as of today. Bariatric advantage is not responding to calls either.

Oh wel.....
