Donna, Thanks for the post, I know I made the right decision to reverse, but I'm still having severe surgical pain. Doctor says "I shouldn't be in this much pain" so now he wants me to go to pain specialist. I'm really certain that after just two weeks a person can't heal up like that and not need pain pills?
I've had a really bad experience with this doctor, and his staff. I'm in no position to be changing surgeons mid stream, but I'm really having a touch time with my recovery and not feeling like I have my doctor behind me. J

I think you will be ok. You may have pain for awhile, but is should subside. You have been through a lot and I personally wouldn't expect you not to need a pain med for awhile. I hope the pain specialist will help. I go to a new pain specialist because the first group I was sent to just drugged the heck out of me. I told them my intent was to live life and not live in a stupor where I couldn't even fuction. Now, I am in better hands and in control.

I hope you feel better soon. I came on hear and was so happy to see that you went with your reversal. I am sorry I wasn't here to cheer you on the days before you went into surgery. With every day that passes, I hope your pain eases up on you. You deserve to feel better.

That Dr is giving you crap. I had my surgery 2 days before yours, and by comparison your's was more invasive. I still have pain, I'm still weak, but I'm getting better. Some days are better than others, and I know it will be that way for awhile. There is nothing wrong or bad or shameful about that. I hope to feel better than this soon, but I don't think 2 weeks is adequate time to "be healed" after organ replacement/modification, fercryinoutloud. Don't buy into the crap about taking too many pain pills, Janie. This country is very shaming about pain and in denial about its power to delay healing and harm the psyche. I'm pretty confident that when you don't have pain you won't take pain pills. I worry about being dependent on all the meds I take, but I don't see you as having a jones!

If they say no more, tell them to live with the pain. They can't let you go with pain. They have no idea what it feels like unless they walk in your shoes.

If they say no, have them refer you to pain management. They can't let you live with the pain.

Default thanks

I started taking more of the pain meds tonight cuz I can't take the pain. I'm calling on Monday, I'm not going to go through this like I am without pain management. They are crazy, I'm only two weeks post op. I had pain meds for six weeks when I had the bloody surgery to begin with, and that was lap.
I had it done open, and 16 days to be exact from surgery. I'm really pissed at the whole situation really. Janie

Worst day of my life yesterday! I woke up vomiting, and I'm not sure why. I was wondering if it was pain med withdrawl, that was my first thought. I pretty much stayed in bed all day long trying to sleep it off. I am in so much pain right now I can't tell you how bad it is. I actually laid in my bed and thought about how to end it, I'm so sick and tired of being this sick and tired! I know that is not the answer, but I've so had enough of this. Perhaps tomorrow will be a better day. Thanks for listening to this ramble. Janie

Janie,
I'm so sorry you are still suffering so badly. It concerns me that you are suddenly having a bunch of pain when you were reasonably comfortable before. And vomiting!....Clearly, something has changed. I hope your doctor had a good breakfast and has his doctor hat on today, as you need doctoring. Let us know what happens, okay? Be prepared for a scope or an upper GI.....Lordy, I hope it's something easily taken care of.

Thanks I'm in tears now I'm in so much pain, and I'm not rationing my pain meds anymore. I'm going to get comfortable today on them, and if I need more I'm going to be looking for the doctor! I called doctor he said he would give me ONE more refill of pain meds. They are going to get a referral for pain specialist. I am wondering if I need a complete workup.. or if this will settle down. The pain is where I had severe pain before reversal, and now it's gone crazy. I personally think it's my colon cramping.. but not too much seems to help it right now. (except lots of pain meds) Janie

Is it possible there is a Block in the intestines or something else...twisted or kinked that would be causing this sort of pain? Personally, if it gets too bad, you might want to consider going to the ER. Or at least letting your Dr. know that the pain is escalating to unbearable levels. Something just doesn't seem "RIGHT" about that. On going pain, understandable...to a point....escalating though...that worries me. Keep us posted.
