Default INS APPROVED Tummy Tuck!

Hey y'all? Remember me? WOW! Where has 2 years went? Seems like yesterday I was a newbie to the board and WLS.

Well...my Ins approved my tummy tuck on 9/16!!! I can't believe it! I am also going ahead and paying out of pocket for a breast lift. My PS is scheduled for 11/12. Pushing to lose another 15lbs before then.

I just had braces put on last month now PS...gee whiz...what a year of make-over. LOL

Meet with my plastic surgeon in the AM again, to go over the details before I go under the knife. I am soooo excited!

Any words of wisdom?

I just had a tummy tuck on August 27th and I honestly had a very easy recovery. I had originally scheduled 2 weeks off from work but felt fine to go back after only one week.

My words of wisdom:

1. If you have a recliner or an overstuffed chair with an ottoman sleep in that the first week.

2. Take your pain meds ever 4 hrs or as prescribed for the first couple of days even if you don't feel like you need it.

3. Have lots of water to sip on and crackers to eat (I get very nauseous from being put under and the crackers help)

4. Don't laugh, cough, sneeze, or choke on your water, it hurts.

Good luck to you. I'm sure you will love your results

Hi Paula - it's great to see you again.

Congratulations on the tummy tuck and as for the breast lift - I'm envious, I don't have any breast to lift! lol

Wish I had some words of wisdom - all I can offer is a cyber hug and lots of good vibes.

I'm still working on getting my insurance coverage. If you do not mind my asking, what was your providers criteria?

I'm also curious on the recovery time for a tuck. I only need the skin removed (had abdominal repair done a couple of years ago). I'm guessing that the abdominal repair needs a longer recovery. Anyway, if anyone has any insight?? Thanks {please excuse the hijack}

Congrats on the good news!! My only advice would be to research carefully what the "tummy tuck" includes. In most cases the insurance covers the skin removal, also known as the panniculectomy. Which is different than an abdominalplasty which includes tightening of the muscles. It is important to know what your getting and a good question to ask your PS.

Good Luck and happiness as you transform!

Congrats on getting approval.

If you don't mind me asking... what insurance do you have, and what were their requirements?

Hi LoriAnn! So fun your from Arlington. I lived in the Ft Worth area for a few years and that is where I had my Ryn-bypass with Dr Gregory Barnes @ Baylor Southwest. I now live in Missouri.

I have Blue Cross of MN. They cover it if it is medical necessary. They 1st denied it and we appealed and with in 2 days of getting my appeal info they approved me! I was so surprised! I have been having a lot of back trouble for the past year. I have a ruptured disc and 2 bulging disc. So that is the reason they approved me.

My advise would be stay with it and don't settle for a denial.
