Question Dr says gall blad. sludgy..will take out IF I WANT

Ultrasound shows sludgy gall bladder. Dr says this may be causing my evening and night nausea. He will take out IF I WANT

I don't know what to do. I am sick every night, but no pain. There is no charge for doing this...it is covered under the 1 year complication rule...free surgery if there is a problem.

What do some of you more experienced RNY People say???

PLEASE GIVE ME SOME GUIDANCE.

Do it!

I had my gall bladder taken out when they did my RNY. It was sludgey too. I was having really bad pains before surgery and I was hoping that it would go away once I had it out. I'm glad I had it done all at the same time. I've seen lots of people on here that have had to have theirs out after the RNY. If the doc says he'll do it, do it...you don't have to mess with that pain...I don't think it will get better on it's own!

Take Care,

Get it out!! I had mine out at 9 months post op. Was getting sick every night after eating, which stalled my weight loss because I was afraid to eat!

Have it out. I had mine out before my RNY due to stones but if it is causing you any problems you should have it out. It will make you feel much better.
Good Luck

IF your doc is confident that your sludgy gallbladder is the cause of your nausia then it really is a no-brainer.

Gallbladder issues don't get better after WLS - far from it. From our own Dr. Callery:
Quote:
Studies have shown that 30 percent of gastric bypass patients will develop gallstones, and 10 percent of patients will develop symptoms requiring surgical gall bladder removal (cholecystectomy).
Gallbladder | Gastric Bypass | Weight Loss Surgery

My doc believes those numbers are higher.

Smile That is what I wanted...RESPONSE & TY so much

Thanks to you all who responded. I feel so much more confident now about having the gall bladder removed.

When he said if I want it done, I thought, "Do I want to have a possibly needless surgery or do I need more surgery?!?"

They are setting it up tomorrow. Hopefully, based on your responses, I will cease with this daily nausea.

Y'all are wonderful. My TT buddies!!!!
