I am in the same boat with the rash. I know that if am not cleaning and powdering that area twice a day, I'll get a rash. But having to allow it to happen just so I can document it annoys me. I guess that a few months of being uncomfortable is worth it. What a hassle.

I agree - its definitely a hassle. I hate the idea of letting myself get a rash just so that I can go to the doctors to get it documented. But that's what the insurance requires I do, so I will do what I must.

Good luck to you!

Since the requirements say "at or below the level of the symphysis pubis" I'm hoping that I will qualify. I actually have a follow up with the PA in my surgeon's office today, so I'll ask her if it would qualify.

Tummy Tuck
I got my TT covered because I am diabetic. This was through BCBS 2.5 years ago. Any extra "stuff" around your middle increases your blood sugars. I did all of the research and along with my family Dr and GB Dr recommendation, we sent it in and got approved within weeks.

If anyone cares, I created a rash under my belly by mistake after my 2nd pregnancy. Due to the rubbing of my belly/extra skin from pregnancy that made me chafe, I thought it would be a great idea to put vaseline under my belly so it wouldn't rub and irritate. Bad idea. It created some sort of topical yeast infection/fungus. I'm kind of embarrassed about this, but that did the trick. It's the heat, moisture, darkness all combined with the vaseline that kept out the air and thus created the irritation and inflammation.

I thought about this and wanted to add: my aunt had GBS 2 years ago and tried this trick and nothing happened, so it all depends on your body's chemistry. Apparently, my body produces too much yeast (I know TMI) and I have sensitive skin, so skin irritation is easy to come by for myself.
Just thought I'd let you ladies know before you start slapping vaseline on your bellies. And it was a hassle treating this. I had to keep the area clean and air dry 3X daily and use gauze to absorb the excess moisture.

No matter what the season or the weather, I always had a rash, under my breasts AND under my belly which I controlled with deoderant. Whenever one occurred, I'd apply some SURE. The discomfort went away immediately, and the rash was gone by the next day.
I haven't had a rash since last summer. I don't know if I'd be able to stand keeping a rash around for 6 months while I have a PCP document how impossible it is to keep under control in order to have a panni covered by insurance.
But if you want a rash to occur... keep the area damp. Vaseline is a good idea to lock in the moisture, but heck, the rash WILL BE not only uncomfortable, but painful.
Good luck to you all. I'm still putting cash away for my reconstruction. I think my bat wings bring me down more than my tummy - but when I come to the bridge, I have no idea what my decision will be.
