Plastics - how much can be done at one time?
How much can be safely done at one time.
I haven't even had surgery yet, but I am hoping to have it done soon - as soon as my 6 months are up! I have great insurance - so I am hoping the process moves quickly.
Anyway, I know that I will one day want to have plastics. I can remember losing 80+ lbs after my daughter, and my poor wrinkly thighs and belly! that was going from 250 down to 165 (I'm pretty stout - and I USED to be 5'5". I wore a size 10 at 170!)
Anyway - I am 300lbs exactly how, and will probably be pretty darn close to that at surgery - unfortunetly, the only thing that tends to work for me is Atkins. Right now, during my supervised visits, I am on 1500-1600Kcal a day of a well balanced, low fat diet per my PCP's recommendations. With diet and exercise and changing my behaviors - I've just stopped gaining any weight. Oh well.
ANYWAY - I am thinking that when the weight is lost, I will need to have plastics.
How much can be done at one time? I think I will need a circumferencial abdominal lift/tuck, and most likely my thighs / booty as well. I'm worried that at the weight I am at now - the arms will have to be delt with. They already bother me!!
Anyway - what has everyone done at one time? I hate going through anesthesia and taking major time off work. If I have to have that stuff - wouldn't it be great to break it into a as few breaks as possible?
It feels good to dream! On one hand it feels good to think about the future - but on the other hand, I feel like I will be needing a major overhaul! ahhh!!! Maybe I'll be worse looking AFTER surgery!!! In the end this is all about being healthy - but its fun to look at your before and after pics on this forum and all the CUTE CLOTHES!!

I was thinking that it's too bad someone can't just cut a round hole in the top of my head, and then pull up all the skin and shake me down into the bottom of the "bag" - then tie a knot on top of my head. I could cover it up with hair!

I have seen a plastic surgeon and they would not do tummy tuck and thigh lift at the same time...their reasoning was that you really need the strength in your legs to lift yourself up and move around after abdominal surgery...they recommended waiting I believe 3 months between TT and thigh lift. They would do breast augmentation and TT at the same time though.
I agree that it would be MUCH easier to just get it all done at the same time...but I don't want to be bed ridden for 3 weeks either so...I will listen to the doctor.

ohhh i so agree with you grandma rose!
i wonder if they will do the arms at the same time? the legs makes sense though with the reason you give.
i wonder if you could get arms, boobs and tummy done at once and then thighs and butt last...
hum! it sure is fun to think about. the scars don't sound fun though.

I had a tummy tuck and breast lift at the same time. It was a 7 hour surgery. I've heard of a belt and breast lift being done at the same time too. I certainly wouldn't have wanted any more done even if my plastic surgeon would have done more at one time. No way my body could have handled more.

I had thighs and tummy done at the same time. My surgeon told me if I wanted arms and breasts he would have done those in 2 separate procedures. maybe it depends on the surgeon? Find one and ask, they usually do free consultations. Good luck!

Better done in stages
This is what my PS said to me: done in stages there was no mortality rate, also having a T/T and breast lift done at the same time (which I did have done at the end of February) there was no mortality rate.
If done all at once (T/T, breast lift, circumferential body lift and thighs) the mortality rate was at least 2% and he wasn't willing to even take that chance. He actually told me one of his reasons for becoming a PS was so that he'd never have to tell someone they were going to die in surgery... and so far, he's never had a patient who has. I am following his advice to the utmost degree because I respect his concern for my health and that of all his patients.
End of September, I am going back to have the circumferential and (MAYBE) thigh lift - he will do both at the same time only if he is 100% confident that I am doing well on the table. Otherwise he'll do only the circumferential and will do the thigh lift in a separate procedure. He recommends 8 months between surgeries and at an absolute minimum 6 months.
Again, as said, seems every surgeon says something different. By the way, I love GrandmaRose's idea...
Hugs,
Kimberly

I do like GrandmaRose's idea too!
Anyway, I have seen medical packages for doing different procedures at the same time. I think that can lessen the cost of your plastic surgery. But yes it depends on the surgeon if they are willing to do that and would also depend on the patient's condition I guess.
