Default tummy-tuck vs. pregnancy

Hey everybody!

I'm almost a year out from surgery and getting baby-hungry. Like a lot of us, I have a LOT of extra skin hanging around because of all the weight loss. I really want to get a tummy-tuck, but I'm afraid that if I get it and then get pregnant later it'll just stretch everything out again. Should I wait to get the tummy-tuck utill we're done having kids? Anybody have experience with this?

Thanks for the help!

From what I have heard, ( now I am still in the losing phase so I am no expert... But..) they will not do a tummy tuck unless you are done having children. As when you get pregnant it will like you said stretch it out again. So in my opinion I would wait untill after you have a baby. That is what I plan on doing since I too want to have children.

Like I said i am still losing but you could talk with a surgeon to be sure.

Good Luck with Everything

My opinion... I'm 26. Started out very large and will have some major tummy skin that will get in the way of good health. rashes, ect. So I have to have a tummy tuck before I have children because I dont plan on them for the next 5 years. But I would suggest just getting the skin removed with no muscle tightening.

They will do a TT but you are told (if you have a good doc) that you should wait a year before you get pregnant. I had a full body lift in Oct of 06 & had a baby in Oct of 08 I did not stretch out my "new skin". Infact about an hour after I had my baby my stomach was going flat when I walked out of the hospital I didn't look like I just had a baby 2 days before. 7 days after I had her I went to Wal Mart and was walking with the baby and a lady asked how old is the baby and I told her 7 days and she said OH that must be why the Mom's not here. I looked at her and said I'm the Mom, and she said holly Shit you don't look like you just had a baby. Oh yeah that was an awesome feeling. SO yes you can have a TT before you have kids, but if you don't have a TON of skin you might want to wait if you can. I had 13lbs of skin removed, and I'm glad I did it before I got pregnant.

I would say... go with what you feel. If you NEED one, then get one before. I am only 22 and don't think I will have a ton of extra skin. I might need a TT but, IDK. Anyway... I plan on having children (prob my biggest reason for having WLS) and would wait to have a TT til AFTER I have kids... just makes sense if there isnt a ton of extra skin.

My arms is what I'm worried about!

I'm planning on having possibly 2 more kids and am definitely going to wait until after having them to have my TT. It is offered along with the WLS at my hospital and there is no time limit as to when I can get it. I asked about the pregnancy thing and they suggested waiting till after kids. I'm also definitely going to need a lift for the girls too and will wait until after breast feeding as well. I know that it is not part of the deal, but I've heard that people have complained and been so upset that their doctors reccommend it. I hope that is the case with me! The girls are already looking to see what shoes I'm wearing each day!
