Yes and I plan to get it documented as soon as it happens, I have a good PCP and she said to call her as soon as one showes up, I am even going to take pictures, not that I will need them, but they can't hurt. Document Document Document. Wow have I learned to do that.

I don't have a breakdown yet as to what mine actually cost as I just had it done last week but I think it'll be close to Beth's costs (30K).

Mine (extensive abdominoplasty) was done at Mayo Clinic and was covered by insurance (I will have about a 2K deductible).

Thanks for the info Jim. Just curious...how low did your pannus hang? Did you insurance company have a requirement for that?

I hope you are recovering well.

Mine (surprisingly) did not hang that low (considering how heavy I'd been and for how long), nor was it very big. I guess I was lucky in that aspect...

Some pictures I've seen of pre-surgery pannus' are shockingly large but mine was pretty tame compared to them, fortunately. Actually, quite tame in comparison.

And no, my insurance didn't have any requirements on that specific issue (pannus length) that I know of. They required a stable weight for at least 1 year and a BMI below 26.

Their requirements had been much stricter a year prior when I first submitted to insurance. At that time, they also required that the patient be experiencing Braden Stage 3 ulcers (NASTY, deep wound ulcers), but they apparently dropped that requirement.

That was a good thing for me as I never had skin problems quite that bad... only minor rashes from time to time. All documented with my doctor, of course.

Dr. Mofid he is awesome! If anyone asks I tell them how great he is and what he did for me. Shot I had a baby and within an hour I didn't look like I had a baby. Even the OB nurses were amazed at how flat my stomach was for just having a baby.

this is silly, but sometimes I am silly...

as I read this I keep thinking of that children's song "Do your ears hang low? Do they wobble to and fro?" and am thinking we could definetely come up with a song "Does your panus hang low? Does it wobble to and fro?" and then add something about it causing skin problems, clothing fit problems etc.

OMG I can't get that song out of my head!
