Default Aetna?

We are changing insurance companies from BCBS NJ to Aetna. BCBS didn't seem like they'd be interested in covering plastic surgery and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with Aetna. I know it all depends on our specific policy, but I'm just looking for answers in general.

I'm fairly certain that to get it covered, it has to be the result of (or prevention of) recurring fungal infections, causing documented balance issues, or some other such documented physical issue. If it is purely for "cosmetic" issues, they probably won't. Good luck!

I ask because I "heard" (did not research it myself because I just had surgery) that BC BS would only cover it if you had 6 months of infections! Yuk! I'd rather pay for it myself. When I heard the insurance was changing my first thought was whether it would be easier. I know no one would cover it for cosmetic problems, but hoped maybe it would be a bit easier to have it covered.

Hi, I live in FL and I have BCBSNJ and we just found out we are changing to Aetna also. I am worried now because I am still pre op and today I (hopefully) jumped through my last hoop! Cardiac clearance (results Monday). I am just worried that BCBSNJ will stall with my approval knowing that we are changing insurance. I am afraid that they will take the 30 days and then deny me on the last day. Which would give them another 30 days for an appeal. By then it will be too late and the new ins will be in effect and I wont know till next month if my policy will even cover WLS or exclude it. Right now it's covered if medically necessary w/comorbitities.
Maybe I am just stressing for no reason but I can't help it, I am a worrier.
