Hey guys,
Been a long time. I had a belt lipectomy and medical thigh lift 1/11/08. OMG, what a huge surgery. Nobody could have prepared me and I work in the medical field. This surgery has been a challenge both mentally and physically. I went home with 6 drains. It has been almost 5 weeks and I just had the 5th one removed (1 more to go) today. I still am not even close to standing up straight. It's kind of freaking me out now. My groin is what has caused me the most discomfort. They cut on both sides to remove the access skin from my upper thighs and then incisions down to both knees. the incisions in my groin area developed a yeast infection so I have had to use a powder and keep pads tucked in there. After 5 weeks, I still have difficulty getting comfortable in any position especially sleeping. I know that this will be all worth it in the end but it has been something that I never expected as far as recovery and pain. Good luck to all that are thinking of having it done and those that have........I need some encouragement. LOL

Default Thanks, everyone

I am doing a lot better! All the aspirations have stopped, still general edema abnd puffiness in the pubic area. Doc says 3-6 months before we actually need to decide if this needs another procedure, but he has assured me that if it "doesn't look good, I will make it look good". He is committed to a good outcome and I am happy about his attitude. I did the binder, compression, etc, and still wear a panty girdle with addition compression when I can tolerate it but I am tired of wearing baggy sweats! (lol)

I'm glad you are doing better. I've been on standby for possible revisions in my pubic and breast areas too. I was told the same thing...wait 5-6 months and then we will decide. I had my 5 month postop appointment yesterday and it looks like we are "on" for some revisions. My PS is also very commited to making it look good. Sounds a lot like yours.
